have a name and he has no one to be there with him.  It reminds me that we need to make sure we have our wills up to date and make sure if, God forbid something happened to us, our babies will be taken care of.”  Shawn rested her chin on Rebecca’s head.

“You’re right.  It’s not something we probably want to think about; today was a reminder of how precious life is and you never know when it will be gone.”  She turned carefully; her belly was making a lot of things difficult now and looked into Shawn’s eyes.  “I need you.  I need to feel close to you right now.”  She said quietly.

Shawn kissed her softly.  “Let’s go to bed.  There is nothing I’d rather do, than love you.”

Jenna pulled the car into the garage and shut it off.  She sat there lost in thought and was startled when Sam tapped on the driver’s window.  She grabbed her purse off the passenger’s seat and opened the door.  “I’m sorry; I didn’t see you walk up.”  She looked at Sam, tears brimming in her eyes.

“You’ve been sitting out here for ten minutes so I thought I better check on you.  What’s wrong honey?”  Sam pulled her tight.

Jenna closed her eyes, soaking in the safety and comfort she always felt with Sam.  “Let’s go inside and I will tell you about it.”

They sat down on the couch and little Jackson crawled over and pulled himself up on Jenna’s legs.  “Mama!”  The little boy said as he held his arms up for her to pick him up.

Jenna pulled him into her lap and held him close, tears running down her face.  When he started to squirm, she kissed him and put him back down.  She wiped her eyes and looked at Sam.  “We had an emergency delivery today.  A woman who was twenty four weeks pregnant was hit by a car.  Dr. Barnes delivered the baby via C-section, but the mom died in recovery.  The baby is in NICU.”  She paused to get her emotions under control.  “Sam, he’s so tiny and he’s all alone now.  Apparently the woman had no one.”

“Oh baby, how awful.”  Sam pulled Jenna to her, stroking her hair.  She didn’t say anything else because what could she say that would make it any less terrible?  Her heart ached as a mother.

After a few minutes, Jenna pulled herself together and leaned back.  “I was thinking about something in the car.  I don’t know how we would even go about it, but I want to talk to you about it.”  She took a deep breath.  “He needs to have human contact and someone to talk to him.  I know the nurses will do what they can and there are volunteers, but he needs someone consistent so that he knows he’s loved.”

Sam smiled.  You are such a wonderful person, it’s no wonder you’re a good nurse.  “Let me see if I know where you’re going with this.  You want us to visit and spend time with him?  Is that it?”

Jenna kissed Sam’s mouth quickly.   “You know me too well.  Yes, would you be willing to do that?  There’s more though.”  She took Sam’s hand in hers.  “I want to find out what it would take for us to become his foster parents.  Would you be willing to do that?”

“Oh honey.  You don’t even have to ask me that.  You are such a loving person and it shows in how much you care about your patients.  We need to make sure we are emotionally prepared for this though; we don’t know if it’s possible or how long it could take.  I’m in one hundred percent though.  I feel like this little boy is meant for us, he and Jackson would have something in common; they’ve both lost a parent before they ever knew them.”  She hugged Jenna again.

“I knew you would feel that way too.  We have something else to think about too.  I should be starting my period any day now.  What if I’m pregnant?  Are we prepared to have three babies in our house?”  Jenna asked.  I’m not even sure if we are ready for two babies!

Sam laughed.  “Well, those are some real possibilities that we have to think about.  We need to remember that this little boy may have some lasting medical issues because he was born so early; are we prepared to deal with those?  The good thing is, I happen to know a few nurses!”

Jenna turned quickly and leaned on Sam, kissing her hard.  “I love you so much.  I don’t know what I ever did to deserve you, but I don’t care.  All I care about is you’re mine now and I’m never letting go of you.”

The kiss continued into more kisses and Sam had to pull back before they got too far into it.  “Wow.  As much as I hate to stop this make out session, we need to get some dinner and your son needs a bath.”

Jenna groaned.  “Only if we can pick up where we left off later; you do things to me and now I’m all hot.  If I promise to be a good girl, will you reward me?”  She reached out and playfully tweaked Sam’s nipple.

“Hey!  Watch it!  That’s not being very good.”  Sam reached up and rubbed her breast for show, watching Jenna’s eyes glued to it.  “Now, go.  You’re making parts of me throb.”

Two hours later the baby was bathed, dinner was cleaned up and Sam was putting Jackson to bed.  Jenna went outside to turn the hot tub on and then headed to change into her suit.  She rounded the corner into the hall and ran head on into Sam.

Sam caught her around the waist and pushed her against the wall.  “Where are you going in such a hurry?”  She said nipping at Jenna’s neck with her teeth.

Jenna made a low hum as Sam continued her attention on sensitive parts of her neck.  “I.. mm.. I was
