There was a mirror on the wall above the table, so he could watch her as well as feel her pressed against him. He placed her hands on the box that was waiting there. “It’s not wrapped.” He stood behind her, his hands on her shoulders, watching.

Jacquie ran her hands around the perimeter of the box, finding the edges and the clasp for the lid. “Is something going to jump out at me?”

“What?”

“I have sons.”

Pierce smiled. “No. Nothing will jump out.”

She opened the box and looked, then she laughed. Pierce had chosen an array of toys to increase her pleasure, not knowing what she liked. They were spaced out in the box. “Are these your favorites?”

“No, I’m much more basic than this. I asked the clerk for suggestions.”

“You don’t mind asking for help.”

“I like to get it right.”

Jacquie touched the blindfold first, that was front and center. It was black satin and lined with rabbit fur. He watched her fingertips slide into the fur, then along the straps to the buckle. She almost caressed it and he knew she liked it. He felt her shiver and saw her swallow. “Maybe you should wear this,” she teased.

“Ah, but I like to see.”

She flicked a glance over her shoulder at him.

“It’s not a bad thing to have experience,” he assured her. “I have some of my own.”

“I like the candles,” she said unexpectedly, then looked back at the box. She abandoned the blindfold with obvious reluctance, her fingertips running over the other items. “What’s this?”

“A finger vibrator.” Pierce put it on his index finger and turned it on, holding it against her hand. When she smiled, he touched it to her lips. She leaned back against him, her eyes sparkling as she watched him in the mirror and touched the tip of her tongue to it.

“Oh!” she said and he smiled at her. He touched it to her nipple and she caught her breath, then gripped his hand. “What else is there?” She picked up the round pink vibrator, and he guessed she knew what it was. She turned it in her hands, then met his gaze again. “How do you turn it on?”

“Squeeze it. Apparently, the harder you squeeze, the faster it goes.”

She chuckled as she squeezed it, her eyes lighting with anticipation. “I like this, too. Good choices.” She put it aside and picked up the black ring that looked like it had rabbit ears. “Something for everyone?” she asked and Pierce grinned.

“That’s the rumor.” He pointed to it. “It vibrates here and here.”

“And this?” She picked up the fox tail of faux fur and ran it across her skin. It was fluffy and soft. She turned in his embrace and flicked it playfully across his mouth. “Just for fun?”

“Why not?”

“Why not,” she echoed, glancing down at the box. The only thing she hadn’t examined was the selection of condoms. “I like the ribbed ones,” she said.

“Good to know.” Pierce took a couple of them out of the box. “What’s your first choice?” He guessed that she’d choose the blindfold, then wondered whether he understood her as well as he thought.

She chewed her bottom lip as she considered the contents of the box, then reached for the blindfold again. “I like this,” she whispered, her voice husky.

“I do, too,” Pierce murmured in her ear. He reached around her and took out the blindfold, then placed it over her eyes. When the fur touched her face, she sighed with pleasure. He fastened it securely and she shivered again.

“It feels wicked.”

“But it’s not very.”

“Do you always blindfold your partners?”

Pierce shook his head, then remembered she couldn’t see him. “This is a first, but they said in the shop that being blindfolded helps many people relax.”

“It makes my other senses sharper,” she said. She turned in his embrace and placed her hand on his chest, her palm flat against him. “I can hear your heartbeat better now.”

Pierce cradled her head in his hands and kissed her again, crushing her against the table as he let his kiss turn hungry. He feasted upon her mouth and she capitulated to him, kissing him back with new heat and passion. When she gripped his shoulders as if she might lose her balance, he tucked a few items into his tool belt, then swept her into his arms and carried her to the couch, knowing this seduction would be complete.

The box of toys was the perfect touch.

It reminded Jacquie that this was a night for pleasure and nothing more. This wasn’t about forever, and it wasn’t the beginning of anything. She’d said she wanted to be impulsive and spontaneous and be indulged, and Pierce was making it happen.

One night. That was all.

One night of pleasure.

She liked the toys he’d chosen. They were playful but not outrageous, nothing to freak her out about his intentions. They were all about amplifying her pleasure, and she couldn’t argue with that.

The blindfold felt sinfully soft and surprisingly effective at relaxing her. It made Jacquie aware of her surroundings in a new way. She smelled the candles and even thought she felt their heat. She was aware of the city sparkling at their feet and the music, which was romantic but also drowned out the other sounds of the hotel. They could have been alone in the world, and that was seductive, too. She hadn’t had much to drink but she felt like that champagne was bubbling in her veins, making her more receptive to possibilities. The blindfold made her tingle to her toes—and it also removed the last of her doubts. She wasn’t reminded of her shortcomings by a glance or a mirror and Pierce didn’t seem to think she had any. It was easier to believe that when he was kissing her as if he’d eat her alive.

She felt him lift her in his arms, although he didn’t break his kiss. She didn’t care where he took her. She was only there for pleasure and her body was
