“Love you,” I murmur getting nothing but dead air due to him hanging up. Pulling the phone from my ear, I do as Blaze said, ignoring the doorbell and now pounding on the front door. Moving as quickly as possible to Matthew, I pick him up out of the highchair and make my way to Matthew’s room.
At the sound of my front door being banged on harder, I tighten my hold around Matthew and try to decide what I needed to do, but the moment I hear the door crashing in I make the decision to hide my son in the closet of his room with his pacifier and go to another room, hoping that whoever it is won’t come to his room.
“Find her. I know the bitch is here.” I tense at the sharp feminine voice that snapped the order.
On silent feet, I move to my room to grab my gun praying Matthew doesn’t make a sound. I have to protect him and our child until Blaze gets here.
“Find that brat as well,” another feminine voice snaps and my body grows still. I know that voice, but it can’t be. There’s no way in hell it could be her.
Flipping the safety off I wait in silence for what’s coming at me.
The sound of motorcycles can be heard coming down the road and the women curse.
“That fucker is coming back,” the first woman sneers.
“That’s alright, I have a present for him,” another woman cackles and this was the woman who called and didn’t say anything other than that horrible laughter when I hung up.
“Shit, let’s get out of here while she throws that thing.” This came from a man.
Oh God what are they about to do?
I don’t have to wait long before my house erupts with a loud boom and the house immediately goes up in flames.
Shit. This isn’t good. Waddling as fast as I can, I rush across the hall and open Matthew’s door, reach into his closet, and pick him up off the floor. “Come on baby. We need to get you out of here.”
Grabbing a blanket from his crib, I cover Matthew’s head and make my way through the flames as fast as I can.
“Raven.” The sound of Blaze screaming my name nearly sends me to my knees in relief; however, that’s quickly over ridden by the sharp pain in my stomach and the wetness gushing from between my legs.
No.
This isn’t good.
The baby can’t come yet. Not yet.
It’s not safe for him.
I’d yet to tell Blaze it was a boy and I’m scared now I won’t get the chance.
Everything blurs and another sharp pain causes me to buckle. It takes all of my strength not to drop Matthew as I fall to my knees, doing everything to keep Matthew safe until Blaze gets to us.
The last thing I hear are Matthew’s screams of terror as everything goes dark.
Chapter Two
Blaze
Soon as my phone rang and I saw it was my ol’ lady’s name on the screen, I knew something was wrong, fuckin’ felt it all the way to the depths of my soul. Something told me I should have brought Raven and Matthew with me to the clubhouse today. To not let them out of my sight.
From the day I first married Raven making her mine in every way possible, I’ve been consumed with making sure she was safe in every way. Didn’t matter to me if she knew how to fuckin’ take care of herself. She was my woman and I needed to make sure she was safe at all times.
Blame it on the shit my ex-wife did that caused me to lose my daughter in the process. I won’t lose another person I love. Not my ol’ lady, not my son, or the child that’s on the way.
Pulling up in front of the house, my heart pounds within my chest as the house is engulfed in flames from the explosion, I heard coming down the road. Half my brothers, who followed me out of the clubhouse, turned around in order to follow an SUV that went flying by.
Getting off my bike I barely think to put the kickstand down as I rush for the flames to get to my ol’ lady and son.
Shielding my face, I run through the open doorway screaming Raven’s name wishing I knew which room she and Matthew were hiding in. I’d told her to hide until I got there but fuck if I’m not panicking as I avoid the flames kissing my skin.
“Raven,” I roar out, hearing Matthew screaming from nearby. Narrowing my eyes, I notice her hunched over form on the floor. With quick movements, I’m at her side examining her unconscious form. Rolling her over gently, I reach down and pull Matthew into my arms.
“Easy, little man, I’ve got you. No one is going to hurt you,” I murmur calmly to him.
“Brother, here hand Matty to me,” Shadow says from behind me.
Nodding I turn enough to hand him over. “Get him out of here,” I command.
Shadow takes Matthew and immediately turns on his heel and rushes out of the house as I return my focus to Raven.
“Come on, Little Bird, let’s get you out of here,” I mutter, scooping her up into my arms and holding her close to my body while standing to my feet.
“Got an ambulance coming, brother,” Coyote says as he covers me, making sure I get Raven out safely.
My eyes stay glued to Raven’s face pressed against my chest as I step out of the burning house and into the fresh air.
Only when I’m far enough away from the fire do I drop to the ground to check her more closely for injuries. Laying her on the ground, I run my hands along her face, arms, as I get to her stomach my gaze widens at the wet spot between her legs.
Fuck.
As if on cue, Raven whimpers in pain.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. She’s in labor.
“How far away
