states, calmly.

“Well, now that we have that settled how about we go get your ol’ lady,” Fuse breaks in before I can respond.

Turning to face him, I see him heading in my direction.

“Where is she?” I demand at the same time as Chains and Dash.

“A warehouse near Robert off of 190,” Fuse says, holding a paper out to me.

Scanning it, I nod my head. I know where this is. Handing the paper to Chains, I head back toward the door as Chains calls my name stopping me as I put my hand on the doorknob.

“We don’t do shit alone. Doesn’t matter who we go up against. We do it together. You’re not going alone on this, remember we always have each other’s back,” Chains declares.

I don’t respond, but I do give Chains a nod before pushing the door open and stepping through. Making my way to my bike, I pause and change directions and head for my truck. I don’t know what I’ll find when I get there but it’ll be better if I have Nora in the truck rather than on the back of my bike.

Getting in behind the wheel, I put the key in the ignition and turn it. Backing out of my spot I spin tires as I punch the gas pedal, my brothers all behind me as I speed down the road.

“Hang on Spitfire, I’m coming for you,” I murmur to myself.

Chapter Fourteen

Nora

“Do you think it’s easy for me to see you hanging there, sweetheart?” Miles asks as he stares up at me.

“Go to hell, asshole,” I mutter as I lift my head briefly from the pit of slithering, hissing snakes that keep trying to jump at me.

“Now, Nora, that’s no way to speak to the man who you’re supposed to be with,” Miles chuckles before looking towards Griz. “Bring her to me for a moment.”

Without hesitation, Griz grins at me when I glance in his direction as he holds the button that moves the chain I’m connected to.

When I’m directly in front of Miles, he gives me a grin that I could only say was one a gremlin would have when it was caught in the act of doing something it shouldn’t have been doing. Better yet Freddy Kruger, his grin when he lifts his clawed hands up in front of his face.

“You should never have avoided me the way you did. No one gets away from me.” The back of his hand lands against the side of my face before I have a chance to brace for it. “Nora, you fucked up by ignoring me and not going out with me when I asked. We’re supposed to be married by now. Instead of me having to teach you a lesson.” This time instead of the back of his hand going against my face, he removes his belt and uses it to whip me several times.

By the time he’s done I’m unable to contain the sobs of pain that rack my body.

“Griz, put her back over the pit. I’m done with her and the snakes can have her,” Miles sneers.

Griz wastes no time in pressing the button and moves me back over the snake pit. This time lowering me further in. Screams of terror leave my mouth as I fight like hell to grip the chain higher up at the same time keep my legs out of striking distance of the demon eyed species that want to sink their teeth into my skin.

I don’t know how much time passes as my cries continue, but I refused to stop fighting. I wasn’t about to let myself be bitten by a snake. I didn’t know what it would do to my baby if one of those toxic vermin sunk their venom into my body.

My body jerks as a startling noise comes from somewhere else in the building.

“What the fuck?” Griz snarls.

“Go see to whatever that noise was,” Miles commands.

Nodding, Griz heads in the direction and gun fire resounds the building. Panic starts to seep in even more as my strength begins to wane.

When one of the snakes jumps at me, I scream louder than before as I try to lift myself higher but failing to do so.

“Nora.” My eyes widen at the sound of Breaker’s voice as he enters the room.

With a quick glance I saw the fire inside him as he lifts a hand with a gun in it and aims it at Miles. Pulling the trigger several times, I don’t even blink as the bullets slam into Miles’ body, one to his arm, another to his leg, the last to his stomach.

As Miles drops to the floor screaming in pain, Breaker rushes toward me as he barks an order to someone, I wasn’t paying attention to who, for them to come help him.

Another of the snakes jumps at me hissing. Screaming, I pull my legs higher, but my hands begin to slip from the grip I have on the chain to keep me high enough from them getting to me.

“Breaker, please help me,” I cry.

“Don’t worry, ma tendre, I’m gonna get you free okay,” he says soothingly to me before turning his head to the side. “Pit hit that button over there that’s connected with the chain holding Nora. The hole’s too wide for me to jump. I’m gonna need you to pull her away from the snake pit .”

“Got it,” Pit, which is short for Pitch Black, snarls as he rushes to where he needs to be.

My blurred eyes hit Breaker’s and I focus on him as I begin to move toward him.

“It’s okay, mon chou, I’m right here. I’ll get you down,” he murmurs as I make it over the gaping hole that’s filled with the snakes.

After what feels like hours but was only brief seconds Breaker has me released from the chains holding me up. Once I’m in his arms he kisses my forehead, cheeks, and mouth.

“Fuck, Spitfire, I don’t think I’ll ever get the sight of you
