“Not trying to impress anyone.” I shrug.
“I can see this. I want to make an alliance of a sorts with you and the club. Well more or less a truce,” Fèlix states.
“What kind of truce? Isn’t your father still in charge?” Tyres demands.
“Not for long. My brothers, Nicholas, Tristan, Rèmy, and I have decided we’re done with the bullshit. It’s time for a change and that begins with us having our truce with you all.” He shrugs.
“Why now?” I ask, wanting to know what made this decision.
“As I mentioned it’s time for a change. The old man is getting too old for his position and becoming a monster each and every day. Probably doesn’t help that Deanna helped shape that in him as he did with her. None of us liked Deanna, especially for what she’s done to our sisters. We might be brutal fuckers, but the bitch fucked up when she messed with Olivia.” I knew the four brothers were protective of their sisters but Félix being the eldest probably takes the weight of it all. “This being said, no hard feelings will come from what happened to the bitch. We’ve already told our father we wouldn’t be retaliating for the problems Deanna caused for herself which in turn cost her, her life.”
“So, what is it you want from us,” I prod, intrigued by this information.
“Means you’ll stay out of our business and we’ll stay out of yours. My father might not know it was you all interfering with our shipments but the four of us do. Things in that department are changing and with that, perhaps you’ll see good things in possibly even working together on some things in the future.”
“You want a truce it’ll have to be decided in church but I’ll tell you now, if your business involves trafficking women then my brothers will be against it. We don’t take kindly to women being sold as slaves,” I remark.
“Understood and no, it won’t involve trafficking of women; however, it will entail women but none will be held against their own will,” Fèlix confirms.
“Then I’ll bring it to the table and let you know,” I mutter.
“Good, now one last thing you should know, and this being the reason I needed to come right as the sun set. There’s word travelling in New Orleans about someone planning to come after your ol’ lady and little girl. It’s why when I saw Tiny at the diner this morning, I sat with her as a precaution and had every intention of calling you to let you know where she was.”
At Fèlix’s comment, I clench my fist to keep my anger in check.
“Do you know who?” I demand.
“No, it was reported to me by my little sister, Sabine overheard two men speaking of this at the brothel.”
Fuck.
“Thanks for the information, Fèlix. I’ll be sure to bring it up to the club about the truce. Once I know I’ll let you know our answer. If you hear anything else let me know if you will,” I state, ending our meeting.
I need to fill my brothers in and then we need to figure out what the hell we’re gonna do.
When it comes to my family, I’ll do whatever the fuck I need to do to keep them safe. And if that means going hunting for the sick bastards wanting my ol’ lady I only hope to get my hands bloody.
Chapter Eleven
Tiny
I knew the moment Chains opened the door to our room something was very wrong.
“What’s wrong?” I ask, standing from where I was kneeling on the floor where River and Brook were playing with their toys.
“Nothing for you to worry about, Bitsy, I’ve got it covered,” Chains utters quietly, his eyes burning into me.
I nod though I don’t truly believe him. Something’s happened and he just doesn’t want me to know about it.
Deciding to take his mind off of whatever’s bothering him, I grab his hand and tug him toward me. “Come on let’s get the twins down for the night and then come have a shower with me,” I suggest.
“Sounds good, baby,” Chains says his eyes flicker with lust as he pulls me into him and captures my lips.
Hm, I love when he does this.
Maybe it’s my hormones or whatnot but for some reason his movements cause my panties to become soaked. I finally put on a pair of shorts after Chains left the room to go deal with club business. Mainly I did it to keep myself from taking care of my own business.
Releasing his hand, I turn around to return my attention to River and Brook to see them playing together with the blocks. “Alright you two, time to go nighty night,” I murmur, bending down to pick up one of the twins making sure my ass presses against Chains as I do so.
Chains places his hands on my waist and squeezes me there. “You’re in trouble, Bitsy,” he vows.
Giggling, I straighten pulling River up with me as I turn to face him. “You say that now.”
“Fuck, baby, move so I can get Brook. It’s time to get them in bed since you want to play with fire,” he rasps gravelly while stepping around me instead of giving me a chance to step aside. “Up you go, princess.” My heart melts every time I hear him speaking to one of our kids especially when he coos at Brook.
Both of us holding a child we make our way over to the twins’ room where I change River’s diaper and put clean clothes on him before switching with Chains who takes our son and puts him in his crib while I do the same process with Brook.
Soon as I’m done, he takes her while I prep the nighttime bottles I keep in here for this very reason. There’s something to be said about teamwork as I shake the bottles in my hands. Suddenly thoughts of the last time
