nodded. “Yeah, he told me as much. He said there were so many tests and questions he had. I made it clear to him that he had to leave things alone for the time being. I don’t want anyone in anyone else’s life disrupted. But I am curious who else might be out there.”

“Me too. And my dad asks me about it all the time.”

Declan’s gaze came back to mine. He pulled off his sunglasses. “I’m not surprised. That’s the way a scientist’s mind works, trying to figure out all the ins and outs and bits and pieces. Outcomes and how to get there. But for now, until things are back to normal, I just want to set it aside.”

“I understand.”

He kissed me on the cheek, then made a searing path to my mouth. I was surprised when his fingers moved to my shirt again. “Is this okay?”

“It’s more than okay,” I murmured, already turning to put my arms around him.

“Lean back,” he suggested. “Relax on the blanket.”

I did what he said, eager to have him close, no matter where it took us. Declan propped himself on his elbow next to me and ran his fingers along my bare arm.

“We’re taking this slow,” Declan warned me.

I gave him a brilliant smile. “Whatever you want.”

“I want you,” he said simply. “And I have since before I even met you.”

“I love you so much,” I said in return.

“I love you too.”

He kissed me again, and I lost myself in his scent, his strength, and everything Declan Dark was. We’d had a whirlwind of a relationship so far and I was looking forward to spending the rest of my life with the man I loved.
