the last time I had sex.  It’s been so long.”

She shook her head in disbelief and glanced over at Alexa.  “This is bad.  It’s like I want to jump him.  I feel like a ticking time bomb. Ugh.  My head is spinning.”  She buried her face in her hands and shook her head slowly from side to side.

Alexa chuckled as she nodded and rubbed Kit’s knee lovingly.  “You’ll get some clarity soon, honey.  Take it slow.  As much as you want to jump Kirby-Kyle, and honestly, I don’t blame you, it probably won’t pan out like you thought.  Babe, no one is telling you to rush into another relationship for goodness sake.  You’ve been through the ringer with Sully this last year.  By all means, have your fun, just don’t do it with Kyle.  Find some other hot piece of ass, have him sign a non-disclosure agreement like all the smart bands do with their groupies and you’re good.”

She looked up, burst out laughing and hugged Alexa tightly.  “I do love you, Lex.  Yeah, you’re right.  I need to give it some time.”

Alexa held her tightly and smoothed her hair.  “Exactly.”

Kyle’s cell phone started ringing as he headed to Kit’s home.  He frowned and stared at it on the passenger seat of his car.  He picked it up and glanced at the number.

He huffed and flipped it open.   “What do you want?”

She chuckled.  “Oh, I think you know.  C’mon Ky, let’s stop going around and around with this.”

He sat in traffic on Sunset Boulevard creeping along, keeping the phone glued to his ear.  “I thought the agreement was clear.  I’m out.”

She purred.  “Not yet you aren’t.  We still have some matters to discuss.  A deal’s a deal.  Plus, you’re never going to be fully out.  You may for a time, but you always get pulled back in.”

He let out a low growl inaudible to her.  “No.  We’re done.  Don’t call me anymore.  Leave me the fuck out of this.”  He was about to hang up when she continued.

She sighed.  “Kyle, honey, don’t make me come to you.  You know it won’t end well.”

He shook his head.  “I’ll take my chances.”  He angrily flipped the phone closed and threw it down on the passenger seat.  He let out a frustrated breath and did his best to calm down.  He wanted to be at his best for Kit.

Kyle arrived promptly at eight.  He was welcomed in by Ariana and led out to the terrace where Kit was waiting.  She greeted him with open arms, determined to make this a more comfortable setting than the awkwardness of their last meeting.

He happily enjoyed dinner with Kit out on the terrace of her estate.  She decided to have one last hurrah there before she left for good.  Entertaining Kyle there seemed safer than the condo where she was staying.

The condo was more intimate and would have presented a danger zone.  Knowing how she felt about her estate and all the memories there acted like the perfect failsafe.  The last thing she would want to do was get physical with him there.  It was the perfect antidote.

After dinner, they headed out to the terrace to enjoy the view as the sun set over the hills.  He leaned back in his chair and surveyed the backyard.  “I remember this place.  Even though we only came here once, it’s still fresh in my memory.”  He pointed to the former pool house.  “That looks different.”

Kit chuckled.  “You do have a great memory.  We came here the summer after my freshman year, your sophomore year at Penn.  That used to be a pool house.  It’s a recording studio now.  Much bigger.”

He nodded.  “Makes sense.  I’m sure you spend a lot of time in there.”

She forced a grin.  The memories were bittersweet.  “I did.”

He couldn’t resist holding back anymore.  He had spent the evening with her and found himself getting more attached by the second. He had been thinking about her constantly since the last time they were together.  He couldn’t deny the spark was back.  The sparkle in her emerald green eyes when she laughed made it impossible for him to sit passively.

He moved forward and before they could both comprehend what was happening, his lips were on hers.
