Vic shrugged. “Intuition, nothing more.”
“Intuition my ass,” Cayce grumbled, but helet go of Vic’s hand without pushing for more details.
Once outside the helicopter, Vic wrapped anarm around Matt’s shoulders. “You ready to head on home?”
Matt rested his head on Vic’s chest and shuthis eyes. He let Vic guide him to Kendra’s car, where they nestledtogether in the back seat. Snuggled up against his lover, Mattmurmured, “Just warning you—I’m probably not going to be awake muchlonger. Between the wine and all the excitement tonight, I’m justabout beat. If you want to get it on, we should probably do itnow.”
Vic kissed his forehead, and Matt leaned backto claim the next kiss on his lips. “With all these peoplewatching?” he murmured into Matt.
Suddenly the driver’s side door opened, andthe overhead light came on, illuminating the car’s interior andspoiling the mood. Matt cracked one eye to see Kendra grimacingback at them. “Are you two getting it on in my car?”
“We’d thought about it,” Matt muttered,closing his eye.
Kendra slid behind the wheel. “Well, thinkagain, mister. Vic, you were amazing! See? You don’t needall those other powers to join the police force. You’d do fine withwhat you have every day. We would’ve never found Noah without yourhelp. The parents want to thank you—”
“Maybe later.” Vic waved her away. “I justwant to get home and spend the rest of Valentine’s Day curled up inbed with the person I bought flowers for this morning.”
Matt opened one eye again. “You better meanme and not Roxie.”
“Of course I mean you.” Pulling him close,Vic proved it with a loving kiss.
