I had no idea that she had a big heart.
I had no idea that she had a beautiful soul.
After I blackmailed her into fucking me, I got to know her up close. I read most of her diaries. Her words penetrated my mind and made love to my soul. She always told me that my band’s music touched her soul. But her words are more powerful than anything East has ever written.
The world viewed me as a Broken God. Sadie didn’t view me as someone that needing to be fixed, she viewed me as someone that she would accept and love unconditionally.
I pull up to the parking garage of our condo. The one that her and Jasper used to share together. I moved in three weeks ago. After I had lunch with my dad, I stopped by the jeweler and picked out a ring that’s burning a hole in my pocket. It cost me a lot of money. Sadie has always liked expensive jewelry. She likes expensive trips and the luxury life her parents provided. And I plan to spend the rest of my life making her happy.
I open the front door. Tanner and Sadie sit at the granite dining table. She doesn’t know that I spoke to her dad earlier to ask for her hand in marriage. Her dad gave me his blessing.
“What’s going on in here?” I ask, dropping a kiss on her forehead. Ever since she found out that Tanner isn’t her biological father, he’s been a better father to her. She already lost one of her parents. Patricia works as a waitress at a bar and she calls Sadie every week begging and pleading for her to work at Sacrifice Records, but Sadie doesn’t want anything to do with her. I’ll never forgive her mother for forcing me to break Sadie’s heart. It’s one of the things I regret in my life. My dad apologized for Patricia’s behavior. I lost respect for him for allowing a woman to come between us. And, I don’t trust anything he tells me. But, I do give him props for bending over backwards trying to repair our damage relationship.
“We’re talking about work. We just finished eating dinner. I made him veggie pot pie.” Delight punches her words.
“I told her she needs to hire a chef, she can’t cook,” Tanner shoots back. “Especially since she’s going to be a wife soon,” he adds, then I drop to my right knee behind Sadie and hold out a red velvet box.
“What’s up with you? You’ve been speaking about marriage all day.” She eyes him suspiciously and Tanner tilts his head towards me. I grab her hand, and she stares at the box then back at me. Her eyes grow wide and shock colors her face.
“Sadie, you are my future, my life, and my love. Would you make me an honest man and marry me?”
She doesn’t say anything for too long and my heart beats crazy in my chest and my palms are so sweaty. If she’s not ready for marriage, then I’ll wait for her. I’ll wait until she’s ready. Because she’s worth it. She places both hands on my cheeks and kisses my lips.
“Is that a yes?” My tone is low.
She nods and I stand up and wrap her tiny body in my arms. I slide the huge-ass diamond ring on her finger. Tanner pats me on the back and says, “Welcome to the family.”
“Get out. I need to load your daughter up with my babies.”
He glares at me then he leaves.
“We talked about this, Felix. We’re waiting until ten years to start talking about having kids.”
“We talked about that?” I cock my eyebrow.
“Yes. At the release party,” she lies.
“We never talked about that.” I shake my head.
“Fine. But at least can we wait until after we’re married?”
I nod. As I carry her to the bedroom, I kiss her forehead, then her cheek, then her lips.
“I love you,” she whispers.
“I love you more.”
Then I make love until the sun comes up the next morning.
