a specific purpose and not make them proficient at it? The skills and traits of a good lover had been programmed into her DNA in much the same way as one installed software onto a computer’s hard drive or an app onto a PDC.

She spread her legs wider, without a shred of shame or guilt. She knew nothing of discretion or modesty. Her only remorse was the fact that she had to do it alone. But an oversexed vixen had to do what an oversexed vixen had to do. Of course, there would still be plenty left over for when the man called Tiger returned. What had happened that morning was just the appetizer. The main course was still to come. And she would serve it up to him as soon as she got the chance.

She closed her eyes, imagining him taking her from behind. Maybe it was the canine in her, a trait passed down from that DNA, but she favored that position above all others. In her mind’s eye, his strong hands grasped her slim waist, pulling her back to him and then pushing her away with a powerful thrust of his hips, only to pull her eagerly back into him, the repetitive motion working her warm, over-lubed sex back and forth along the length of his manhood.

Her back arched upwards, her hips rising from the bed anxiously. Even though it was her third of the afternoon, the intensity of the orgasm hadn’t been tempered by her previous sessions. A primal growl issued forth from her lips, morphing into a long, drawn-out groan of ecstasy. As she gave herself over once more to the wave of pleasure engulfing her, her eyes rolled back behind half-closed lids as she collapsed, spent once again.

As she lay panting, she heard a beep from the nightstand beside her. Someone exiting the elevator had triggered the motion detector Tiger had installed in the hallway before he’d left. In her state of bliss, the alert almost went unnoticed by her. Guests and housekeeping personnel had come and gone all afternoon, and after checking the cam several dozen times without incident, she’d been lulled into a false sense of security. However, when it went off again … and again … and again … at what seemed to be timed intervals, something in her brain … something she wasn’t even aware was there … took notice. Grabbing the PDC from the nightstand, she was frozen for a moment in terror, as she watched four men in black move down the hallway in a two-by-two tactical advance and cover, pulse rifles at the ready.

But her petrification only lasted seconds, as that something deep within her, something even she couldn’t explain, took control. She had the pistol out and was on the backside of the bed in an instant. Laying it on the mattress, she crouched behind the bed, as she pulled up another app on the PDC. Fingers moving over the screen in a blur, she punched in numbers and letters, activating the “few other things” Tiger had synced up earlier. She fought the overwhelming urge to call him. But there wasn’t time.

She was on her own.

Chapter 6

“Remember,” Frost’s voice crackled inside Seven’s earpiece, as he moved in a combat crouch down the hall. “The creature is not to be harmed.”

How many times is he gonna repeat that? He think we’re idiots? Seven’s rifle sights followed his eyes, as he covered his partner moving up closer to the door of the target room. Once Number Two was in position opposite the door, he gave a slight nod, and Seven moved forward quickly to assume the position opposite him. Behind them, the second team was in position, ready to storm in behind them once the door was breached.

So far, everything had gone off without a hitch. The hotel had been cleared of all other occupants by having the front desk clerk, which turned out to be a damned illegal android of all things, call all the other rooms and inform them that the hotel was being evacuated due to a chemical leak at a nearby superconductor plant. This would reduce the risk of collateral damage, which was never good for business.

Two gave the signal, and Seven crouched and as quietly as possible, attached a round magnetic disc to the card reader on the door. As he did, Two pulled a stun grenade and reached for the door handle, ready to grab it at just the right moment. Pulling his PDC out of a pouch on the front of his tactical vest, Seven opened the app and began running the program for the lock deactivator. Although it was only seconds, it seemed like an eternity before the program was able to disable the lock. The sound of the bolt sliding open sounded like a gunshot in the deafening silence of the hall, and he winced at the unexpected loudness. There’s no way they didn’t hear that! He returned the PDC to his vest and had his rifle at the ready again as Two pushed the door open immediately and was about to toss the stunner inside when all hell broke loose in the hallway.

The Plaster Blasters Tiger had stuck to the wall at ten-meter intervals down the hallway had Chameleon technology which enabled them to change to the color of whatever surface they were applied. Once activated, they were almost impossible to see unless you knew to look for them. Frost’s operatives were well-trained and well-prepared, but they had no way of knowing that Tiger possessed such high-grade military technology.

The first volley Amber set off filled the hallway with a flash of light, followed by thick, white smoke. Among the blinding light and boiling smoke, sharp barbs of metal flew in all directions, embedding in walls, doors and human flesh. Their PolyRmor body shielding protected their vital organs, but that was little comfort from
