lies ahead.

The Mocker stands as a powerful, beautiful image of what one would imagine an angel to look like, missing only his wings. His long blond hair blows around a chiseled face. He holds a large sword in one hand and wears silver armor laden with white diamonds. The effect is stunning.

Elina knows what the others do not. He stands a very mockery to the name that is whispered from the humans who dare glance upon him.

He looks at the Keepers and Archangel standing defiant against him, “Ah, I see you have brought some friends, Elina. Excellent, my thirst is great for their blood! And I see one of my jailers here as well, perfect. I will hang your wings over my throne and…”

Malach steps to the edge of the ship’s deck interrupting him, “Brothers, hear my call! The Betrayer walks again!” From his sword a brilliant beam of light shoots to the heavens with his voice echoing across the night. He smiles when the Mocker screams in rage and points his sword at Malach.

“Attack, sons! I want his impudent head!” Instantly the night fills with the noise of battle and inhuman screams. The Mocker begins laughing as the army of the damned rushes forward seeking blood!

Elina watches the army of creatures flood towards her and Malach. She looks to the pier to locate Jake and finds him with Makaio and Loe. They are fighting to board the ships gangplanks trying to reach her.

Elina sends a thought to him, “Jake, Don’t come to me, I will meet you on the pier.” She sees what they do not, they will have more room to fight without being surrounded.

Jake throws a quick wave of understanding and directs Makaio and Loe away from the ship, killing demons as they go. She sees a wall of flying death headed for the ship and yells to Malach over the noise, “Can you draw some of them away so I can get to Jake and the others?”

Malach looks back at her after kicking a large night crawler demon in the face with a resounding crack of bone. It strikes the deck with a wet thud.

“Yes, go! Go!” With that, he extends his mighty wings and launches towards the sky in a blast of air and debris from his passage. Malach leaps straight into the night sky shifting into his dragon form, spewing out a stream of flame he burns any in his path.

Roaring he taunts the flying horde to pull them away from Elina and the ship. Most of the creatures give chase trying to bring the beautiful dragon down using the sheer force of numbers to drive Malach into the water.

He twists and turns on his tail shooting skyward with a great beat of his enormous wings breaking the bodies of any creature within reach of his taloned feet. He swings his tail like a whip cutting some of the demons in half. Punching through the mass of darkness, Malach climbs further on his wings readying for another assault.

Elina worries about Malach for a second until she sees him hammer through the demonic cloud of creatures attacking him and gain altitude. For a moment she stands awestruck at the pure power that the dragon possesses. The beauty of the sheer ferocity he displays when fighting is like nothing she has ever seen. Taking the few seconds that he bought her, she ports to Jake to help with the fight on the pier.

Elina arrives in the middle of Jakes group, just in time to duck as a creature with a monstrous mouth of foul rotten teeth and claws leaps at her. With a yell she sidesteps and plunges her sword into its back watching as it flashes to cinders.

Jake looks over his shoulder, “Good to see you in one piece.” He slashes at another of the toothed creatures watching it fall, staining the wood of the pier with its blood. “I never thought I would be glad to see that dragon again. Damn, he is big. I am glad he is on our side.”

Makaio grunts with effort and a demon goes up in a flash. “At this point I would take any help we can find!” Another swing of his club and the dog faced demon in front of him falls with most of its head missing.

Elina hears a war cry from behind her and turns to watch Loe grab a clawed arm of a night crawler demon. With a great heave he rips it from the shoulder of the beast and taking the still moving dismembered hand, he drives it up into the screaming mouth, spearing the creatures head with its own taloned hand. As it falls over still gurgling he turns looking at Elina, his eyes aglow with the righteous fire burning inside of his soul. He nods at her and pushes into the foe once more.

Elina makes her own path into the fray. Keeping her back to Jake she starts killing anything in front of her. She has no second thought, no remorse. It is as if her humanity has been stripped from her. With no hesitation, she kills with every stroke of her sword, barely registering what she hits before turning to strike again. Carefully, she keeps her powers quiet, waiting for the moment that she will need them. When she feels the tremor in the slick wood under her feet, she slows her deadly ballet and glances over at Jake, Makaio and Loe. They all have a dumbstruck look on their grime covered faces, wondering why the demons are backing off.

“Oh shit, this isn’t good is it?” Jake asks.

Elina looks up the pier towards the city and sees the hell spawn in front of her start to separate and fall to the rough wooden planks, shivering in anticipation. “Malach, where is that heavenly army you promised me? We could use a little help right about now,” Elina calls.

With a roar he answers her call, “Wait for it!” he snaps
