Mated To Her Wolf

              The Clan – Book Two

Chapter One

Caitlin’s eyes filled with horror as she watched the second bar appear on the pregnancy test. Her green eyes flashed wide, her breath was trapped within her breast. But she couldn’t look away, a part of her wanted to see the truth, wanted to know that she carried new life within her belly.

Part of her had always felt she would be a mother one day, just not now, not this way, and certainly not to a werewolf. Despite knowing the cost of betrayal, she still had feelings for her Wolfman. But the deed was done, her sex academy wrecked, she could hardly open her doors now that she was pregnant.

Her resolve was steadfast, she was going to keep this baby no matter what. A fundamental part of her wanted to be a mother, seeing her pregnancy result had brought that maternal instinct home to roost. She had underestimated the depth of her longing to be pregnant with a child. To create her own family, to belong. She wanted this baby, even if it meant changing all her plans.

She took the pregnancy test, her lower lip trembling, she fumbled in her purse and brought out her phone. Caitlin brought up the dating apps silver logo, she quickly doubled clicked the stylish logo, fashioned after a symbol of currency. Her stunning green eyes rapidly scanned the display, she promptly opened her profile and clicked delete, and with that, her advertisement disappeared from the app.

The Academy could wait, indefinitely, she had much more to think about now. Her reality had shifted, and changed, this evolving situation meant her plans were completely in disarray. She needed to regroup and think about how to handle this, and more importantly. What to do about Wolfman?

Lycan had been trying to reach Caitlin ever since they spent that torrid evening at the restaurant. He had moved back to his wilderness. After setting up the most grandiose land development deal, the city had known.

Lycan’s words rang in her years as she thought about the consequences of her pregnancy. He was so adamant about not having children because of his werewolf heritage. He didn’t want to pass his genetics further down the line. He wanted the shape-shifting to stop with him.

I can’t tell him about the pregnancy, Caitlin thought glumly. I need this baby in my life, and he would never let me go through with her. She huffed out a frustrated breath and looked around in despair.

I need to know more about what I’m dealing with, I need to know what sort of baby I’m going to be bringing into the world. Caitlin paced pensively, before deciding to go to the state library and do some research.

There must be something I can dig up about werewolves; even if it’s just legend, it might give me more of an idea of what I’m dealing with. Caitlin nodded, her mind made up. She grabbed her bag and headed out of the door.

Caitlin slipped into the last available private study room, her arms were filled with heavy books. She spent hours pouring over the history books searching for details. It appeared about werewolves had a long history dating back centuries. They had been supposed sightings, myth, and lore surrounding them. They almost certainly were capable of shape-shifting, particularly during the full moon. And often appeared in human form looking rather hirsute.

Caitlin scribbled notes in her notepad, jotting down pertinent details as she sought to get a more precise picture of what she might be dealing with in her baby. Possibly the gene wouldn’t be passed down, and her child would be healthy; that would be ideal. If the babe was to have werewolf capabilities, it may also not appear until the child grew to a teenager. These changes appeared to be linked to hormonal growth, becoming evident by adulthood. As much was mythical and lore, no studies had been gone, or facts gathered. Still, it was more than she had known before.

Caitlin closed the last of the books she had been studying and checked her watch. 7:50 PM, nearly closing time. She gathered up her notes and quietly left the building. She decided to walk home to stretch her legs and gather her thoughts. It had been a big day with a lot to process and digest.

Chapter Two

It was after 10 PM by the time Caitlin reached her Victorian terrace. As she opened the wrought iron gate. It gave its usual squeak of an unoiled complaint. She warily climbed the stone steps to her front door, as she reached the large wooden frame, Caitlin paused to fish her keys out of her bag. A shadow moved, a figure approached her out of the darkness. It dangerous thrill made her heart skip a beat. She went from cautious adrenaline pumping through her veins, to a relieved breath of exasperation when she recognized the hulking masculine figure as Ryan, one of her sex academy hopefuls.
