for himself in Vermont, I knew opportunity was all but knocking. “I want that hit Canelli’s put out on me to be a thing of the past. I don’t care how you do it, just get it done.”

I pull a wad of bills out of my pocket. Ten K just like we had agreed upon when I spoke with him the first time.

His teeth flash against his shadowed skin. “You know you’re starting a war, Judge Baxter. I like that. I’ve dealt with judges before, just none as bold as you.”

“I have a family to take care of. The last thing I need is to be dodging bullets. I need to know my girls are safe, my wife and her bakery.”

“You’ll all be safe. You’re a part of the Moretti family now, you, your girls, your wife.” He winks when he says it, and I wonder if I’ve just made the biggest mistake of my life. “Relax, Baxter. Move back into your house. Get back into your own bed. Enjoy the baby. I’ve got this.”

I may have gone into some unnecessary details when outlining my current situation to him.

I take a deep breath and nod. “I will. Keep me posted as to what transpires.”

“You’ll hear it sooner than later,” he says the words like a threat and yet, ironically, the threat felt aimed right at me.

We go our separate ways and I raid the vending machines just as I promised. I head back up and make my way toward the room at the end of the hall where my heart currently resides.

But I can’t seem to shake the fact I just made a deal with the devil.

Manny Moretti? Really? That’s how low I had to stoop?

The halls of Honey Hollow General Hospital hum at this early morning hour, just a little after four in the morning, but it might as well be high noon with the adrenaline coursing through my veins.

The good thing is, Lemon can sleep while I watch over the baby—my baby. Even though the jury is still out on that one, either way, she’s mine.

But the fact I was forced to fork over some cold, hard cash to a mobster in the parking lot just now? That’s all Noah’s doing. If he hadn’t talked Lemon into moving that body from the morgue—

A heavy sigh comes from me as thoughts of Noah and Florenza Canelli run through my mind.

Let’s hope that little sleepwalking defense Noah dreamed up actually works. If not, my days with Lemon, along with both of my daughters, are numbered.

From my chambers to a prison cell. My, how the mighty have fallen.

I make the final turn down the corridor and freeze at the sight before me.

Lemon stands outside of her room, one hand pressed against the door as if she were shutting it while trying to be discreet. She’s fully dressed in a wool coat, jeans peering out from underneath, and I inch my head back as I try to make sense of it all.

Did Noah come back with those clothes?

Is she leaving the baby?

Her hair looks darker, a little longer—and then it hits me. It’s that woman we’ve been seeing everywhere—the one stalking us at every turn.

I drop the armload of snacks and speed in her direction.

The woman jumps back with a look of horror as she turns my way.

Same face and same eyes as Lemon.

She turns to bolt, and I catch her by the wrist.

“You’re not going anywhere.”

My name is Lottie Lemon, and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, who have come back from the other side to warn me of their previous owner’s impending doom.

The baby is here and all is revealed regarding its paternity—and a killer is taunting me to reveal them too. And have I mentioned there’s a woman who looks all too familiar stalking me? Throw in a couple of mob bosses, my own paternity debate and a plethora of professional hits for hire and you’ve got one too many ingredients for my sanity to deal with. And let’s not forget that body. I might be whipping up my famous chocolate chip cookies for the entire town to enjoy but unbeknownst to me—there’s murder in the mix.

An impending divorce. A hot homicide detective. And spontaneous time travel.

Midlife in Glimmerspell is proving to be magical.

If I thought the first half of my life was a bumpy ride, I’d better buckle up because I’m about to go over the hill and off the rails.

*A laugh out loud Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore*

After catching my husband in bed with another woman, I gave him the heave-ho, put our house on the market, and moved away to an enchanting little town for a brand new start. What I didn’t count on was the fact that enchanting little town might just be—enchanted.

Glimmerspell is rumored to be home to vampires, werewolves, and fae, but those are just simply gimmicks to lure tourists to their snowy little town—aren’t they?

Nevertheless, I’ve got a job at the Haunted Book Barn where my niece films her infamous video blog—Murder, Mayhem, and Baking. She’s somehow wrangled me into helping out with whipping up the sweet treats, and in the middle of filming an episode a hot flash strikes and I’m transported to another time, place, and another day entirely.

Midlife in Glimmerspell can be a real killer.
