“If I am to remain as part of the Maiden’s crew, I had best explain my reasons to them, their poor souls never asked for this mess,” he said aloud.
“No need Will.” Lieutenant Shelton said, walking up to clap him on the shoulder. “We go where you lead Sir,” his smile was slight but genuine.
“What constitutes treason when the monarch betrays his people?” a marine added.
“Likely that line won’t be drawn for us, should we face the crown or it’s representatives again.” Will replied with a grim tone.
“We’ll face it together Sir. We’re here to stay the course with you.” Shelton said, reaffirming his earlier commitment.
“Better be ready to hold fast then Lieutenant Shelton, I have a feeling the girl Captain has no intention of gathering barnacles on her keel in port.”
