“Wow, Seth,” says Lucas, taking the camera from me. “I didn’t think you had it in you.”
Seth scoffs. “I can be artsy when I want to.”
Hunter glances at the picture and nods his head. “Artsy,” he murmurs. “I’d like to see some of your pictures sometime.” Hunter glances up to me and my gaze dips to his lips, recalling our kiss from the previous day outside the apartment.
I clear my throat and nod. “Sure,” I say, taking a bite of pizza to ensure I don’t say anything stupid.
There’s a buzz and Lucas takes out his phone from his jean pocket, looking down at the screen while Seth takes the camera back from Hunter. “How has your project been going anyway?” Asks Seth while turning off the camera.
“Definitely better. You really helped.”
Seth graces me with a smile and I instantly recall the look he gave me when he asked whether or not I was going to shower with him. His moans echo in my head and I shift uncomfortably on the couch.
Is it just me or is it getting hot in here?
“Millie messaged me,” says Lucas. His thumb hovers above his phone while he stares down at it like it’s an SAT test and he’s stuck on a math question.
“Oh, Millie,” says Hunter while nodding his approval.
“You’re still sleeping with her?” Asks Seth.
Lucas casts a dark glare in Seth’s direction. “Aren’t we all?”
Seth shrugs. “I guess.”
I really have nothing to add to this conversation so I stand from the couch and place my plate on the counter. It’s none of my business who they sleep with, I tell myself, but despite knowing all that is true I’m still getting pissed Lucas is getting text messages from Millie after our kiss. Or that Seth pretty much admitted to sleeping with her even though he hooked up with me.
But why am I getting upset? None of us are in a relationship. They can sleep with whomever they want. Even if the girl happens to be a stupid, mean, cruel bitch. Doesn’t matter to me whatsoever.
“So, should I go?” I hear Lucas ask.
I’m actually surprised they don’t all hoot and holler and go on about her big tits. Seth shrugs and Hunter nods, but no one really says anything. Lucas looks around the room before his gaze catches on me.
“Well?” He asks, without saying who exactly he is talking to.
I shrug. “Up to you, man,” I say, cringing out my attempt to sound like a bro.
Lucas smiles. Hunter chuckles, shaking his head. He slowly stands and looks around the room. “Alright, who’s coming with me to Tom’s house party?”
I shake my head. “I have my project.”
“I need to… study,” says Seth without looking at anyone in particular.
Lucas raises an eyebrow. “Study?” He asks. “You actually study?”
“Now I do,” says Seth, quickly leaving the couch and striding back into his room. “Now, if you don’t mind me, you fuckers,” says Seth, opening the door to his room and standing in the threshold, “I have some studying to do.” He slams the door shut behind him.
Lucas and Hunter give each other a look before getting up and shoving on their shoes.
“Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?” Asks Hunter.
“It might be fun,” adds Lucas.
I shake my head, smiling and waving at them. “You go on ahead. Maybe next weekend.”
I hear the door click while I finish cleaning the kitchen. I put the pizza box in the refrigerator and stride towards my room. Before I enter, I see Seth standing in his doorway out of the corner of my eye. He watches me, looking me up and down for a moment and my face heats noticing the want in his gaze.
“Do you want to study together?” He asks, a book in his hand while he pads towards me.
I shrug, entering my room, but keeping the door open. He follows me inside, kicking the door close behind him and stands in the middle, looking around, possibly wondering where to sit. I pat a spot next to me on the bed and he quickly walks over, sitting himself closer than expected.
“So did you really want to study, or did you just want to talk?” I ask while digging through my bag, finding my camera. We haven’t talked much since our time in the shower and, though I’ve been keeping up with my running schedule, I notice he hasn’t invited me to go with him since the first time.
Seth opens his book. “Why did you stay?” He asks while not looking up.
I shrug. “Why did you offer?”
Seth chuckles. “I thought you would run away.”
I smile. “I didn’t.”
Seth snaps his book close and leans towards me. I remain rooted in my spot, staring into his eyes. He’s so close. His breath is on me. His lips just centimeters away. And I want him to kiss me. I want to do more with him, and it scares me acknowledging I would ever want anything to do with this asshole.
“No,” he breathes. “You didn’t.”
I stare at him, waiting for him to say more, to do something. But he just stares at me. As if he’s trying to memorize my face. His hand strokes my cheek with the backs of his knuckles. I release a breath I didn’t know I was holding and he licks his lips. His hand slides to the back of my head. He leans into me as I allow him to pull me towards him.
His lips brush mine lightly, hesitantly, as if he’s too shy to ask for more. I press my lips against his, my tongue stroking and urging him to open for me. He moans softly as his mouth slackens and I move myself closer, deepening the kiss and stroking the fires inside him. His hands stroke my hair away from my face. They cup my cheeks and pull me closer. I
