Rachael and I both went in on Justin’s gift. We found a microphone that I know he will love using on stage. The base color is silver but there is a blue swirled line going all around it. Then the top part of it is lined with light blue rhinestones. It was the most expense thing we bought for anyone but I can’t wait to see him use it.
Rachael buys her husband a new pair of cowboy boots, in the weirdest shade of orange I have ever seen. She swears that he will love them but I’m not so sure. She gets herself a new pair too, but in simple brown leather, with a watch that matches.
“Now it’s your turn.” She says as we walk out of the shoe store. “What are you going to get for you?”
“Umm, I don’t really need anything.” I have been praying she would over look that I haven’t bought anything for myself.
“Oh no you don’t, I have one rule and one rule only, and that is that you have to buy yourself something too. Now come on, I know you have great taste in jewelry, maybe we should head back to were we got Guy’s dog tags.” I stop and just look at her.
“How do you know what taste I have in jewelry?” I’m not being rude, I really am confused by what she said.
“My personal shopper, Kelly, sent me the same pair of earrings that Justin got you while you were in New York. Black diamonds, they were lovely. Any woman who can pick out something so simple yet so perfect must know a thing or two about jewelry.”
She’s not wrong, I do like to look at jewelry. Not like a girly girl or anything but I like to see different styles, and things like that. This is something that Chris doesn’t even know about, something I don’t even admit to myself really. But if I’m going to buy myself something today then I want it to surprise everyone.
“Can you keep a secret?” I ask her. She just nods and smiles. “I have always wanted to go to Tiffany’s” I bit my lip while waiting for her to react, I didn’t have to wait long.
“Then lets go to Tiffany’s!” She squeals.
We load all the gifts into the trunk and the back seat of the car. She gets the directions to Tiffany’s from her GPS, because I wouldn’t admit to knowing where the store was. I want to shoot myself for being this giddy over going shopping, but I really can’t wait.
When you walk into a place like Tiffany’s you must think rich, well I don’t think rich, I don’t know how too. Luckily Rachael knew what to do. A sales lady came up to us and asked if she could help us, well duh. I thought about what I may want to look at on the way over and decide on a necklace. She showed us over to their necklace area and asked what type I had in mine. I really don’t know. Rachael told her we may need a few minutes, she said that was fine. She stayed with us but didn’t hover over us.
I walked over to one of the cases and gasped. They have the most beautiful silver butterfly necklace. The wings are lined in small diamonds, and there is a blue sapphire at the heart of the butterfly. I’m still staring at it when both woman walk over to me. I look up at Rachael and smile.
“I think she found something she likes.” She jokes with the sales lady. I asked her how much the necklace was, when she pulled it out and showed it to me I knew I had to have it.
“$1,200, but I could knock off 10%.” She smiles at me, crap that’s a lot of money.
“I need to call Chris first.” I tell Rachael and walk over to the door.
“Hey, you still shopping?” Chris answers.
“Um, yeah. Chris you know how you told me that if there was something expensive that I wanted I needed to clear it with you before buying it?”
“You’re not buying a car are you?” He laughs, I can hear the others in the background.
“No! I’m at……please don’t freak out on me but I’m at Tiffany’s, you know the jewelry store, and there is a wonderful butterfly necklace with diamonds and a sapphire that I really want but it costs $1,200. The sales lady said she could take off 10% but it will still be over $1,000.” I know I’m talking a mile a minute but this is all new to me.
“Flower do you like the necklace?” He asks.
“Yes, I love it but I have never spent that much money on one thing before.” I’m fighting with myself.
“Buy it.” Chris says, I can’t hear the others anymore so I guess he walked out of the room.
“Really? Are you sure!?” I’m ready to do the happy dance!
“Yes, I’m sure. I can hear how excited you are, I can’t remember the last time you got this excited about buying something. Maybe Rachael needs to fly down here more often and take you shopping.”
“I don’t know about that, but thank you Chris! We’ll be home soon. Love you!” I hang up after he tells me he loves me too.
I walk calmly back over to Rachael and tell her everything Chris said. The sales lady takes my card and rings me up. I just got my first piece of jewelry from Tiffany’s! When I signed the bill I saw that I was right, it was still over $1,000 but so worth it.
As we pull into the drive way, Rachael takes my hand in hers, stopping me
