"Nobody would insure me, lad," the dwarf replied. "At least not without asking me for a thousandfold what anyone else would normally pay."
"Is it because you're an old fart and drink way too much for your health?" Yelena asked with a wide grin, though I thought I had an idea why it actually was.
"Me armpit hairs are laughing, that's how funny ye are, fucker," the dwarf said and shuffled in his seat uncomfortably. "I've lost me home to a dragon. They're not stupid. They know I'll try to get it back."
"Insuring someone who's planning on fighting a dragon definitely doesn't sound like a wise investment," Leo admitted. "And if there's anyone who wouldn't mind attacking insurance brokers, it would be a dragon, especially since they'd technically be invading his lair to get to you."
"You think upgrading our classes is going to be enough?" I asked Leo, a bit more quietly so that Yelena and Rory wouldn't hear. "Ommanth sounds confident we can do it, but everything I've read about silver dragons indicates they're tough sons of bitches."
"It's gonna have to be," Leo said, offering a hopeful smile.
"Rory, you've done the class change quests, right?" Louie asked, just as the plane started moving.
"I have, boy," he replied and squeezed the arms of his seat so tightly that his fingers went white, "but this isn't the time to talk about it."
"Yelena?" Louie continued with his questions, unperturbed by the fact that we were going to take off shortly. "You've changed your class too, right?"
"I have," she replied nonchalantly, while continuing to look out the window. "Has been quite a few years since I did."
"I've looked into it online but would like to hear about your experience too," he continued.
"There's not much to say that isn't available online, Louie," she replied and this time turned to face us. "Most of what takes place during the quest differs for each person. What you'll be presented with depends on your own skills and ambitions, as well as the fact that you'll be tackling it as a group. All I can advise you to do is read up on the four basic elemental planes."
"Yes, I saw that much too," Louie said and I looked at him, my complete ignorance on the subject apparent in my eyes. "Don't worry, Alex. I'll fill you in."
"The first class-upgrade quest typically takes you through the four big elemental planes," Yelena explained, the moment the jet's turbines kicked in. "The planes of Air, Water, Fire, and Earth."
"Unholy shit, fuck, brass balls," Rory shouted and tried to steady his breathing. "Ye're gonna fucking pay for making me do this, half-Celt. Ye hear?"
"I just can't understand how someone like you could be afraid of flying," I said, trying my best to be sympathetic to the massive dwarf who barely fit into the luxurious white leather seat, and yet was squirming like a child.
"I'm a fucking dwarf, ye bastard!" he shouted in anger, bits of spit flying toward me. "We dig. We mine. Ye know, under the ground. The air is no place for a dwarf."
"Next stop, Edinburgh," the pilot's voice announced.
"You can't possibly be scared of flying on a plane, Rory," I said, in an effort to calm him as the plane's wheels left the ground. "Not when we're heading to a dragon's lair."
Rory got something to say
