to her.

“For what specifically?” Sandra asked yet again.

“He punched Brian Vanrod, to defend Maddox from Brian,” Luis answered.

“What?” Sandra spoke in a shocked tone. “Jeez, that guy just does not know when to quit with his anger or frustration, but wait, did you say he was defending Maddox, the child prodigy in our school?”

“Yeah,” Luis continued. “Brian attempted to punch him in the face, but Maddox tried to talk him out of fighting. Aiden came by and surprised Brian, and by punching him, made him fall down unconscious.”

Sandra began to hold her hair tightly as if she were about to pull it and sighed in annoyance, “What is up with boys these days, starting fights suddenly?”

“Hey, no need to generalize us,” Tom spoke bluntly. “I mean even if Aiden tried to talk Brian out of it, it would not have worked, he would just attacked Aiden. That is the way the world works unfortunately, Aiden’s way of thinking, is to take down the problem immediately rather than assess it, then solve it. I may not agree with it, but sadly that’s how the world unfolds in inexplicable ways.”

Sandra sighed at Tom’s explanation as she focused on eating her tuna salad, which she loved and adored a lot, which made her munch and eat more of it as she chewed and swallowed pieces of it, with the olives, pickles, onions, tomatoes, celery, cucumber all mixed into it. As she continued eating, the others around her started to eat alongside her in silence. The food helped give a distraction to her thoughts on what Tom said, trying to make her forget about how the world works unfortunately.

“So, what have you guys been up to lately?” Veronica asked, trying to lighten everyone’s mood after a few minutes of silence passed.

“Boring Advanced Functions class,” Luis spoke immaturely. “English just being English. Not much, but I do have an archery tournament coming up tomorrow.”

“Oh nice!” James spoke, another of the Trinity Guys. “Really hope you do win it!”

“Thanks!” As Luis chewed onto his lentil rice with meat in it which he devoured immediately in a matter of seconds, as he smack talked. “How about you Sandra, what are you up to?”

“Well, I did apply to be student president and attend student council also,” she simply replied while resting her right cheek on her right palm, as her right elbow was placed on the cafeteria table. She was resting her face on her hand. “I will be speaking potentially as a student president candidate this Friday’s assembly during lunch.”

“Really?” Allison said excitingly as the others around her stared at her. “That’s an amazing opportunity that you are exploring and potentially trying out!”

“That’s great!” Veronica spoke aloud.

“If you do end up as student president,” Sam said funnily. “Make sure they fix up the menu in the cafeteria especially their soggy pizza and fries. Also make sure they sanitize more of the washrooms around here, to be honest, that should be your priority.”

Sandra smiled and giggled at those remarks, “Yeah good points, but thanks guys, I will do what I can as student president, well if that’s ever gonna happen, I guess.”

“I’m sure you will get it,” Luis said. “I have confidence in you Sandy.”

“Thanks,” Sandra was pleased to hear her friend supporting her. “Isn’t tomorrow your birthday Luis?”

“Yes, it is,” Luis answered. “I’ve invited all of you along with some others.”

“Sweet,” James answered excitedly. “Alright see you guys there tomorrow. Just text us the timing”

“Yeah, see you too,” Luis said as he nodded to James’ remark. Sandra and the others finished up their meals with their drinks of water, juice, sodas, etc, the bell rang. Their next set of classes were about to start. They packed up their stuff and resumed the rest of their school day as usual.

Chapter 2

A Bright Light

Date: September 10th, 2020

Early morning, Sandra arrived to help the student council with a few things before her classes were about to start. Outside the main school office, she was in a middle of organizing the items that had been lost and should be placed in a lost & found bin. She was glad that she got the chance to join student council, to potentially become student president. It was her dream to try it out and make a difference possibly. She still had her pair of kaleidoscopic glasses hanging by her shirt neck collar, as she shuffled through the lost and found while wearing her regular pair of glasses.

As she was looking through the lost and found, every minute or so, she always pushed her glasses towards the top of her nose to prevent them from slipping, since her head was tilted towards the table with the lost items. There were many lost items in the matter of just a couple of days of school starting such as a water bottle, notebook, hat, watch, necklace, and many other things. As she shuffled through the lost items, placing them in a box, she suddenly stumbled upon an incredibly unique lost item which was a prismatic cube.

The prismatic cube had smoking black texture with a lot of gloss shine to it, with marble like white streaks intersecting throughout the six faces of the cube. It was a full-on black marble cube. As she scrutinized it closely, she saw hints of red faded refractions at the corners of it when shining it at a peculiar angular tilt or rotation. Her curiosity got deeper, and she decided to put on the Kaleidoscopic glasses on for fun to see what the black marble cube would like in kaleidoscopic vision.

As she put the glasses on, it was not even showing the black prismatic marble cube in kaleidoscopic vision at all. This confused Sandra. She took off and put the glasses back on a few times to make sure that her eyes were not
