The feline remained cowed as the rest of the party launched attacks. The giant arrow that Gemma used before punched into its side. She must be really mad about missing all those shots. Not long after that, a small ball of fire hit the animal in the shoulder and it whimpered in pain. A strike combo from Rag finished the round of attacks.
Atlas thought the creature dead, until it lifted its head and growled, fiery anger dancing in its eyes. It pounced forward in a move they hadn’t seen yet and landed on top of Rag. The weight of the monster pinned him to the ground as it began clawing at him. Luckily for the warrior, it pinned his shield between the cat and himself, so it took the brunt of the damage.
They all activated another round of attacks. Two quick arrows thumped into its ribs while a ball of fire sizzled into its right eye. Atlas launched forward with his Triple Threat and the final blow smashed into its now burned eye. The animal hissed in pain and leaped backward.
You dealt 16 HP damage to Umbral Shadow with Triple Threat.
Atlas helped Rag to his feet and then immediately cast Nourish on him while the others distracted the creature. The warrior nodded in relief as the spell settled over him and charged back at the cat. Atlas ran beside him and they both attacked with their combos.
His Triple Threat connected solidly and on the last hit a loud crunch echoed through their surroundings as he felt a spot on the cat’s head collapse slightly. The feline wavered as if drunk before Ragnarok’s sword caught it in the neck and it sunk to the ground.
You dealt 20 HP damage to Umbral Shadow with Triple Threat. (Critical)
Umbral Shadow died.
Ragnarok backed up until he ran into a tree and sunk to the ground. He’d taken quite a beating during the fight and although Atlas had healed most of it already, it would take time for his Stamina to recover. Gemma leaned heavily on her bow while Quelin looked mainly unfazed.
The vulpine walked to the corpse and accessed the loot. An item popped up for all to see.

Party Chat
PrettyPrincess: Whoa, did you guys kill the Umbral Shadow already? Thought you were going to wait for us?
Atlas: That was the plan, but we had to intervene to save an NPC. Thought it may prove useful in the future. You guys get part 2 of the quest?
JamminGirl: Sure did. We aren’t far from you now.
Gemmalin: Good. We’ll wait for you to arrive and then we can head for the last boss.
Atlas considered sitting and waiting for them, but remembered something.
“We have some more loot to collect first.”
“What do you mean? There weren’t any other monsters.” Quelin said.
“There are seven dead Reborn gravestones at the original site of combat. If we don’t loot it, one of the later parties will. We can call it our rescue fee for saving the girl.”
The group was giddy at the prospect of the loot, and all walked to the stones. They bounced from one to another as they looked to see what each person had. They found two rings that looked like loot from the event targets they killed. One of them Ragnarok kept because it increased Constitution by 1. The other one was an Intellect ring that Atlas and Quelin played a game of ro-sham-bo for. Atlas lost when Quelin’s scissors cut his paper. The group had a total of 2 gold on them. Atlas couldn’t believe it until he remembered the quest. They all received 5 silver per kill. If they killed five monsters already, each of them had 25 silver in event kills alone. They split it evenly among the four of them and each received 50 silver.
Two more items popped up in addition to the rings. Since they weren’t spoils from the boss, they were free game. One was a staff that Atlas greedily snatched up.

The other item was a new robe that boosted Quelin’s health and added some armor to the magic user.
“That’s one hell of a payday. Didn’t realize looting gravestones could be so lucrative,” Rag quipped.
“It wouldn’t be if not for
