“Finally alone, I turned to face him. He looked so handsome with his windblown hair, biker boots, and devilish grin.
“What’s going on?” I asked and laced his fingers with mine.
“A couple of things, actually. I closed my case.” He smiled, and his eyes crinkled at the sides. Easton had been undercover for two years in a brick paving company. They believed that the company was a front for smuggling military grade guns into the United States.
“I’m so happy for you. We should celebrate before you get a new case.”
“I was offered my new case, infiltrating a motorcycle club that deal in the methamphetamine trade and tends to have a habit killing their competitors.” Easton’s lips were pressed into a thin line.
“Huh? I’m confused, they offered it to you? You mean they didn’t assign it to you?”
He shook his head. “No. I put in a request to move to an office. It’s time for me to slow down and think about my future.” He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. “Our future.”
My heart picked up speed at his words.
Easton cupped my chin, and lowered his mouth to mine. I slid my hands up and around his neck, pouring myself into this kiss, into him.
“I’ve missed this,” he murmured. “I need this every day.”
I rested my head on his shoulder and inhaled the warm scent of leather and sandalwood. “It’s yours, I’m yours.”
“I got promoted. Which means my request to move to desk duty was accepted.”
“That’s wonderful,” I said but a part of me deflated. He was here because he got a promotion and I was happy for him, I really was but a small part of me was hoping that he was here to tell me we weren’t going to be apart anymore.
“Be happy, this means we get to see each other more.”
I smiled and forced myself to radiate happiness.
“You don’t look as excited as I had hoped.”
I forced my lips into a wide grin. “I’m happy, I really am. We can go out on dates and maybe you will sleep over.”
“Oh.” Eaton frowned and my heart fell.
“Oh? What do you mean oh?”
“Well, I don’t want to spend the night here.” His words hurt but then he chuckled. “How you ever thought you could be undercover is beside me. You wear your emotions on your sleeve. Kobe, listen to me. I don’t want to sleep here because I want us to get our own place. We can find something close but I’m going to be working out of the downtown Orlando Federal Building. I’m here, all the time.”
Finally, my heart began to pick up speed again. “Live together, yes, I would like that.”
“Well, I had hoped for a little more.”
“More?”
His eyes scanned the living room and over to the door where I was sure the women were all listening. His hand moved carefully to the pocket of his jeans.
Muffled whispering erupted behind the door and he chuckled.
“Sorry, babe. This is as private as it’s gonna get with a group of women,” I assured him.
“That’s fine,” Easton said, a smile tugging at his lips. “They love you, and who can blame them?” He reached forward and grabbed hold of my hand. “I can’t imagine life without you and to be honest, I never want to.”
My heart swelled as I listened to each word he spoke.
“Kobe?” he asked.
“Yes?”
Easton bent down on one knee while he still held my hand, my left hand to be exact. “Kobe Brogan, will you marry me?” He pulled a small box from the pocket of his jeans.
“Easton,” I said, my throat tight with emotion. “Yes.” I gazed into his hopeful eyes.
The girls all shouted and started clapping. Easton rose to his feet and pulled me into his arms. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to come home every night and know you’ll be there. I want to wake up next to you every morning, to grow old with you. I want so much for us, and now we are finally in a position for it. Timing was always our issue, Kobe.”
“Speaking of timing, when will you open that damn box so I can see my ring?”
He lifted the lid and nestled inside sat a glittering, oval cut diamond. My hands shook as he took the ring out and then slid it onto my finger.
“I love you, Kobe.”
“I love you too.” My eyes filled with tears that I refused to let fall.
“We love you both,” Ridley and the others said from behind us.

Sneak Peek—Adeline, Getting Even
Book 1, Iron Ladies
Chapter 1 - Adeline
The screeching sound of the tires as the V8 American muscle car pulled into a parking space in one fell swoop was one of Adeline Morgan’s favorite sounds in the world. The only thing better than that was shopping.
She sat in her seat a few minutes and let the song, which was playing far too loudly, finish before she cut the engine. The abrupt absence of the rumble and music in the afternoon air hit Adeline like a shiver of anxiety. There was a comfort in all things car and speed, but she was late, so she forced herself not to crank the engine again.
Adeline pushed the solid steel door open and slid from her seat before straightening her black bodycon dress, which clung to her curvy figure. Then she slipped her four-inch black leather heels back on—one did not drive a muscle car with heels on—and grabbed the bags from the passenger seat.
The Iron Ladies office took up the majority of the fourth floor
