“Wow!” She grinned, licking her puffed and swollen lips.
“Wow!” I agreed, out of breath as if I’d just run a marathon. “Fucking wow!”
Sliding my hands under her armpits, I dragged Meadow up off the floor and into my lap, her knees on either side of me. Wrapping my arms around her bringing her flush against me, I breathed in the sweet scent of her hair. Again committing the smell to memory.
My girlfriend just gave me the most explosive head job of my life, naked in my arms, and I was yet to make love to her, and here I was fucking happy as hell.
“Tomorrow night, you are all mine,” I promised.
“I thought I already was yours,” Meadow quipped back.
“Okay, I make your pussy officially mine.”
“I thought you already did when you—”
“Woman!”
Giggling, Meadow lifted her head and looked at me, her eyes shining with an emotion I refused to say out loud in case I jinxed myself. I was falling so fast, we both were. I could see in her eyes that she felt the same, and feel in it her touch.
Papers needed to be signed, and calls had to be made before I left town today. But, my arms wrapped tighter around Meadow, holding her naked gorgeousness for just a little while longer.
“I will miss you, Spunk,” Meadow whispered sadly.
Pressing my lips to her temple, I breathed in her scent, making sure it was buried into my senses. Fuck me, I was only going for twenty-four hours to do something I loved. Less than two weeks and Meadow was climbing the priority ladder of my life and taking hold of my heart.
“Already miss you, baby.”
“Is that him?” Prue asked, peering over my shoulder to look at my phone screen.
“Sure is.” Holding the phone so my best friend could see the text message Luca just sent me.
“He just arrived at his motel and is heading straight to the job site.”
Prue smirked at me as she reached for her glass of frosty cold beer. “Look at you, using your shy voice, blushing and shit,” she teased me.
“I like him a lot.” I was hugely aware that Luca made me more girlie than I was comfortable with or had ever been. Girlie as in, gushing, blushing, out of control heart rate, that kind of girlie.
“Have you got a photo of him?”
“Shit! No, I can’t believe that I haven’t.” Swiping my phone open to Luca’s message page, I quickly type out a request for a selfie from him.
“I can’t wait to meet him,” Prue said, sipping her beer. “It sucks that I live forty minutes away now. Seeing you once a week for pole dancing, then back to Melton until the weekend isn’t right. And I missed seeing you fall on your tushie for ‘the one’. Dramatically mimicking air quotes, making me giggle.
“I know, it sucks that your dream job is in Melton,” I commiserated, just as dramatically. I missed Prue being just around the corner from my parent’s house, but she worked really hard for the promotion to executive assistant, and I couldn’t be happier for her. It made these surprise weekday visits just that more special.
After Luca and I said goodbye. And after he kissed me passionately, promising to ring me tonight … and after he helped me back into my overcoat, my mood plummeted, and so I did the only thing that would make me happy.
I called my bestie and cried. An hour and a half later, Prue stormed into my shop and demanded I close and let her take me to the pub for drinks.
“How did you manage to get time off work today?”
“Told them that I had an emergency back home that couldn’t wait. And Meadow Tessler sobbing about her boyfriend leaving her for twenty-four hours seemed like one to me.” Giving me side-eyes, Prue raised her brow at me, silently asking me to refute her claim. Of course, I couldn’t because she was correct. I rang her, sobbed, then begged her to come and give me a hug. I was unrepentant in my sorrow.
“Don’t be such a—” just at that moment, my phone dinged with a message alert.
“He texted back!” I squealed, fumbling with the device, finally swiping open the screen without looking at it because I didn’t want to see if he did what I’d asked until I’d actually opened his message. Call it crazy, call it the actions of a woman on the cusp of needing therapy, I don’t care. I’d rather not look and let the excitement build before opening it, and I have been doing this ever since I gave Luca my number. I even went as far as giving him a different alert tone, so I didn’t have to go through the day hearing my phone go off and wonder if it was him. Only to find Trish texting me to let me know she had a yeast infection or getting my opinion on whether she should get her clit pierced.
Crazy, you say, no wonder considering my parentage.
“Spank my arse and call me mama,” Prue moaned, her hand coming out to take the
phone out of my hand before I even got to take a look at what Luca sent.
“Hey! Give that back cow-face,” I shouted, fighting to get my phone back.
“Meadow Lavender, you did good!” Prue practically panted, fanning herself with one hand and with the other holding my phone as close to her face without actually licking it.
Snatching my phone back, I slapped her arm. “Don’t middle name me, and stop drooling over my—oh dear god, let me lick him again, please.” Luca had indeed sent me a selfie, and my god, what a picture it was.
It was obviously taken in his motel room, going by the bland beige and cacky green décor. Luca
