They heard our bikes as we pulled up and in almost perfect synchronization, three of Vilanuevas men turned towards us while the other three stayed focused on Ink and the guys. They were going to try to take us out and still not let Clean and the boys get away. It was like fighting the fucking military.
“Where is Archer?” I asked from my crouched position behind a boulder. Wire screamed back at me.
“Gone! They live in New Orleans.”
Great, just when we could use someone with his skill set he is in a whole different state.
“What’s the plan boss?” I asked looking towards Wire.
I could see the gears turning in his head but there was nothing, no matter what he did right then someone was going to be put in the line of fire.
I wanted to take control, but I knew I couldn’t do that. Wire was leading this and I had to let him.
Separate them.
“We have to split them up, somehow. All together like that we won’t be able to get to them.” Wire said ducking further below the rock.
Diversion
“Fuck that, there is more of us then them. We should just ram them in.” Storm went to stand up.
No!
I grabbed him and pulled him down. It was just in time, as soon as his head cleared the edge of the rock a bullet ricochet off the boulder.
“Wire.” I spoke up, and he looked at me. This wasn’t what Wire was used to. Wire was already in his own world. The hum of chaos had already taken over for him. “I’ll create a diversion get them to split up, you guys do what needs to be done.”
“Fuck that, you not going to get us killed.” Vale said popping off a few shots without looking where they were going.
“Don’t follow me, when you see your opening take it. That’s all. You good with that Wire?”
Wire nodded once slowly but didn’t really respond.
I didn’t wait for any other directive. I took off running towards the opposite end of the field. Bullets were flying all around me and by some fucking miracle none of them hit me. I made it to the truck that the boys were transporting. There was ammunition there and other weapons that I was going to use. Now instead of them being split into two, they were split in three. Some shooting at me, some shooting at Wire and the men with him and the rest shooting at Clean and his guys.
I opened the crate, wood splinters stabbing into my fingernails, but not stopping me. I looked down and smiled, I had my diversion.
“Clean!” I yelled out.
“Prez?” He bellowed back in response.
“Get ready to run. Fast!”
“Copy!”
I pulled the grenade out of the crate pulled the pin and lobbed it right where the six of Vilanuevas men were.
“Grenade!” I heard someone scream out and then a second later, a loud explosion had dust and rubble flying.
I looked up and exactly like I thought the six of them were scattered all over the place. Wire was already out from behind the rock and walking calmly up to one of the men still rolling around on the floor. He pulled out his weapon and shot the man point blank twice in the head. Vale and Storm ran over to where Clean and the others were and helped them out from behind the rock. Clean came out shooting, and when he ran out of bullets he charged one of the men. Using his strength to knock the man down to the ground and literally beating his face in with his bare hands. Mack, in silence, took out two of the six. I took out another two. By the time the dust settled all of the Wings were accounted for and alive and all six of Vilanuevas men were on the ground dead.
“That’s what I’m fucking talking about! Kicking ass! All the fucking time!” Clean did a dance and laughed like he didn’t have a care in the world. “Now let me get the fuck home, Maven is waiting on my dick, she isn’t a patient woman. I have to get there before she finds a club bunny to have fun with.” He clapped his hands twice and started to walk back to the truck.
“Always thinking with your cock.” Vale said and started to walk back to the bikes.
“Have you seen my woman?” Clean asked putting a little bit of a pep in his step.
I watched as Wire pulled his phone out and started to send out a text, I am sure it was to the cleaners. There were six bodies just lying in the middle of the road. The cops usually let us do what we needed to do but leaving bodies was not part of the agreement.
Before he could finish, my hand was on the knife Mikki had given me.
“Wire!” I called out and pulled out the weapon. His eyes popped up to mine but his hands were occupied and there was no way that he would get to his gun before I released the heavy knife.
“What the…” I heard everyone else behind me scrambling but the knife was already out of my hand and flying in the air.
The force of the weapon passing by Wire was enough to blow a few strands of his hair up. The knife sailed straight past him and landed with a wet thud into the chest of the man standing behind him. There were seven of Vilanuevas men. We missed one.
Wire turned around at the sound of the body dropping to the ground.
The man was still flopping on the ground and the gun that was previously pointed at the back of Wire’s head inches away from his hand.
“Well fuck me, where the fuck did he come from?” Clean said out loud.
Everyone ran back over to where the man was on the ground as I bent down to pull the knife from
