Ensley snickers and is picking on Enya pisses me off.

“Ensley, what do you want?” Enya asks again.

“When you’re ready to have a woman who can give you everything you want, give me a call. I’m sure Enya here isn’t gonna be able to give it to you,” Ensley says seductively.

“I’m good, Enya is all I fuckin’ need, and I wouldn’t go for your sleazy cunt if I were drunk, let alone sober. Now answer Enya’s question. What the fuck do you want?” I snarl, getting pissed on my woman’s behalf.

Ensley sneers and her gaze hardens on Enya. “I need money,” she says, holding her hand out to her sister.

Are you fuckin’ kidding me?

“I don’t have any on me,” Enya whispers. “I gave you the little bit extra I had left last time.”

Now I want to know what the hell’s going on. Why is Enya giving her sister money?

“I suggest you give me something. You know I’ll call him,” Ensley threatens, pissing me off even more.

“Alrighty, that’s it. Get the fuck out of here. Enya ain’t giving you shit and threaten her again you won’t like the consequences. I don’t care if you’re her twin or not,” I snarl, pulling Enya closer to me. My need to protect her going into overdrive.

Turning away from Ensley, I help Enya into my car and close the door. I move to the other side, ignoring the cunt who would threaten her sister. I get in on my side and look at her. “You wanna tell me what the fuck that’s about?”

“Um, not really,” she utters, fidgeting her hands in her lap.

Anger boils and I take a deep breath. I’ll leave it until I get to the house. Once there, I’ll find out, even if I have to use her body against her to find out what I need to know.

Chapter 7

Enya

Why me? Why did I get stuck with an evil twin and not a nice one? She used to be once but not anymore. I’m cursed to be the one to take care of her and everything else while she lives a life of sex, drugs, and booze.

Running away from our stepfather had been my decision and I’d taken her with me. I don’t think he ever messed with her and I felt responsible for protecting her. It’s why I allowed what he did to happen to me until I finally put a stop to it by taking off, leaving everything behind except for Ensley.

She doesn’t know the hardships I went through for her, for us, for myself to be able to survive in that house with him.

Sitting in the passenger seat next to Kenyon, I’ve been tempted to ask him to turn around, take me back to the bookstore, and leave me be. Ensley did what she does best by embarrassing me in front of him. Oh, and of course, she hit on him right there in front of me. It’s ironic that she and I look almost the same with minimal differences, but she’s calling me the ugly duckling.

The ride is shorter than I expected, although it still felt like the longest trip ever, considering the anger vibrating off of Kenyon. I wish he didn’t have to meet my sister. I’m sure he now thinks I’m nothing but trash after that encounter.

Parking the car, he shuts off the engine. Kenyon pulls the keys out, palming them in his hand as he gets out and rounds the car before I have a chance to open my door. The man stands there taking my hand in his as I step out of the very same car he’d taken me home in the last time I’d been with him, two months ago. In the light of day, it’s even slicker than ever. Standing straight, I notice the massive truck next to the car and wonder if I’d even be able to get in it without help.

“Come on, let’s get you inside,” he mutters and guides me into the house.

Taking in my surroundings as we walk, I’m surprised by how cute it is. On the front porch is a sitting area of Adirondack chairs painted blue with a matching table between them. Instead of a flower bed, he has a rock bed filled with river rock. There’s a birdbath and a few other things in the bed decorating the front of the house.

Lillian had told me a little bit about her boss’s house but knowing this is Kenyon’s makes me smile.

Opening the door for me, he lets me step in front of him, and I’m stunned by the beauty of the house. Kenyon steps in close behind me, his hands coming to my waist as he guides me further inside.

“Lillian must have taken Ryland for a walk. It’s what they typically do around this time of day,” Kenyon announces, taking us deeper into the bowels of his home. In the large family room, he pulls me down on top of him as he sits on the massive couch. I can see why he’d need something large like this, considering his height. He has to be at least six foot three. Last night the boots I’d been wearing had a six-inch heel, and when I’d faced him, I’d been on a platform near the bar that put me right under eye level with him.

I attempt to move from his lap, but he tightens his grasp on my bare thighs. Why did I think it was a good idea to wear shorts is beyond me. His touch sends a thrill of want through my body, wishing he’d take me again.

Right here.

Right now.

God, I’m a slut for thinking such a thing.

“Alright, aingeal, time to tell me what is going on with your sister. What did she mean by her threat?” Kenyon mutters.

“There’s nothing to talk about. Nothing about Ensley is any of your business,” I whisper, diverting my gaze from him. I’m ashamed and I don’t want him to know about my past. If Kenyon knew, he’d
