“Was anyone going to tell me Glory was in danger? We left the clinic and went to the damn mall. I wouldn’t have done that if I’d known someone wanted to hurt her,” I said. “How the fuck can I protect her if you don’t tell me there’s an asshole who wants her dead?”
I’d known something felt off when we’d gone to the clinic. Steel hadn’t been acting right. He’d known I’d claimed Glory. Why the fuck hadn’t he said something? If he didn’t want Glory to hear, the ass could have at least texted me or called after I left.
“What the hell, Steel? You knew about me and Glory.”
He held up a hand. “Sorry, Wolf. I’d planned to call Badger and pass the word along, but my fucking phone started blowing up with calls and texts about the break-in. By the time I had it all handled, I’d forgotten to tell anyone about you and Glory.”
I growled and narrowed my eyes at him. How the fuck could he forget when Glory had been threatened? I’d let it go for now. Arguing over it wouldn’t change anything. My relationship wouldn’t have been high on his list of priorities. Knowing someone out there wanted to hurt Glory, and in the worst way possible, made my gut churn. I studied the image again.
The words were written with angry slashes in what looked like permanent marker. I’ll enjoy your little whores before I send them back to you in pieces.
I knew exactly what he meant by “enjoy” and I’d be damned if Glory would ever go through that again. And send her to me in pieces? Over my dead fucking body! No one was going to hurt my woman. I’d find this fucker, and I’d make him pay for even daring to think such thoughts about Glory. I’d cut him up, maybe even make him choke on his own dick.
My hands fisted and a red haze settled over my vision. I didn’t know who was after her, but I’d find out. Then the bastard was mine.
“I hacked into the cameras in the area,” Outlaw said. “I found a possible lead, but I had to hand it off to someone else. Wire and Lavender were going to dig deeper and see if they could get us a name. There’s no guarantee it’s the person who trashed the clinic, but it gives us a start.”
“Where do we go from here?” I asked. “If I leave Glory in the dark, she could leave the compound without protection. How much am I allowed to tell her?”
Badger leaned back in his seat. “Depends. What does she know?”
“She was with me when I went to the clinic yesterday morning. She saw the destruction. And she felt something was off with the woman who showed up, then took off. Glory isn’t stupid.”
“Never said she was,” Badger said. “Let her know her life has been threatened. It will keep her cautious when she’s not behind the gates, and since she usually has Sienna with her, she’ll need to be extra vigilant. I don’t know what the fucker would do to a baby.”
I personally didn’t want to find out. I gave Badger a nod and knew this was going to wreck the day I’d had planned with Glory. Still, I’d rather her know and be careful than keep it to myself even for another twelve to twenty-four hours. I’d just have to find ways to distract her when we were home.
“I need volunteers to patrol the compound, on the off chance the fucker knows Glory lives here. I also need someone to stay glued to her ass when she leaves, and someone else to watch the doctor,” Slash said.
Ripper and Hound volunteered to patrol. Colorado offered to keep an eye on Glory when she left the compound, assuming I wasn’t with her. And Bandit seemed eager to watch the doctor. It made me wonder if he didn’t have a bit of a crush on her. It would be interesting to see how it played out. If the doctor did give him a chance, I had a feeling she’d lead him on a merry chase first. She’d been spunky the few times I’d spoken to her.
“Anything else?” I asked. “I kind of want to get back home. I left Glory and Sienna sleeping. What if they wake up while we’re in Church and she decides to go somewhere?”
“Get out of here, Wolf,” Badger said. “I’ll text you with any updates. And congrats on getting the family you’ve been wanting.”
Steel snorted. “That boy’s been after Glory since she got here. You act surprised he finally coaxed her into his bed.”
Badger grimaced. “Franny had us all fooled. I thought she was sweet and a great match for Wolf. Seems I was wrong. I only hope Glory is the right one for him.”
“She is,” I said.
I stood and walked out, eager to get home to my girls. Before I got on my bike, I sent a message to every Prospect the club had, making sure they knew Glory wasn’t to leave the compound alone. I didn’t know what Badger would tell them, if anything, so there was a chance they’d think I was being a controlling asshole. Either way, I’d make sure Glory stayed safe. At least I could tell her what was going on. Past experience said it wouldn’t guarantee she’d make good choices. The ladies of the Devil’s Fury had a tendency to run headfirst into danger, usually in hopes of sparing everyone else. They were brave, if a bit foolish.
I pulled my bike into the driveway and noticed the club truck was still under the carport. At least I knew Glory hadn’t woken up and left the house. I crept inside,
