“Well technically, Matt was the first one to actually settle down. He just hasn’t gotten around to the wedding yet.” Sebastian laughs. “Soon though huh, bro?”
Matt shrugs. “One day. For now, Callie and I are happy as we are.”
I hand the drinks out and go back to the window with my own. I sit on the windowsill facing into the room.
“You know what would have been even weirder than this though?” Sebastian says.
“What?” Matt says.
Sebastian nods his head in my direction. “If Chance had gotten married first.” He laughs.
“Chance’s already married.” Matt laughs.
My own laugh freezes on my lips. He knows? “Huh?” I manage to sputter out.
“To your job!” Matt laughs.
Relief floods me. Of course, he doesn’t know. It’s just a joke. A standard joke in our family that I should have recognized instantly. “Definitely the wife that causes the least amount of hassle.” I smile.
Matt and Sebastian laugh.
“You’re probably right there,” Sebastian says.
“Your face when I said it though. It was as if you thought someone had somehow sneaked a marriage to you, without you knowing about it.” Matt grins.
“No, horror is just my standard reaction to the M word.” I laugh.
“Or any mention of any sort of relationship for that matter,” Sebastian says. He nudges Matt. “Can you imagine a world where Chance finds a way to divide his time between work and a woman?”
“Not even a little bit.” Matt grins.
“Me either to be honest,” I add.
“You never know,” Sebastian replies. “I always said I couldn’t imagine a world where I could only ever have sex with the same person for the rest of my life. And when I finally let myself admit I loved Kimberley, I realized I never want to have sex with anyone else but her. Ever.”
“Yeah. One day, you just might meet the one and realize the business won’t implode if you leave the office before ten,” Matt agrees.
I shrug and they raise their eyebrows. Normally I would completely dismiss the whole idea as ridiculous, but now I’m not so sure. I could imagine taking an evening off here and there if it meant I got to spend time with the side of Sierra I met in Vegas. But it’s not going to happen. It would be the height of unprofessional.
“Relax.” I grin. “I’m just humoring you both. There’s no chance of it actually happening.”
Matt and Sebastian both laugh.
Matt points at me. “You almost had me there. I thought maybe you and a certain someone who can’t be named had found true love.”
“We’ve been through this,” I say.
“Yeah, yeah. Nothing happened. Nothing ever will. You don’t see her that way. I know.” Matt laughs. “But it’s always fun to poke the bear and get a reaction.”
He’s right about getting a reaction. Sometimes it is fun. It’s why we wind Sebastian up constantly. I wonder what reaction I’d get if I told them the truth about what Sierra and I did in Vegas. I wonder what reaction I’d get if I told them that even though an annulment is already underway, that not only have I not thrown my wedding ring away, but it’s in my trouser pocket and it’s been in one of my pockets since the second I slipped it off, outside of the hotel lobby.
A tap on the door pulls my attention away from the idea of dropping that bomb. Not that I was really considering it anyway.
“Come in,” Sebastian calls.
Dad steps into the room and smiles proudly at Sebastian. “You look great son. Are you ready? You should be thinking of making your way down there now.”
Sebastian nods slowly and swallows the rest of his drink.
My dad raises an eyebrow and smiles. “Nervous son?” he asks.
Sebastian shakes his head and then laughs. “Screw it. Yeah I’m terrified,” he admits.
Dad claps him on the shoulder. “You’ll be fine son. Trust me, I was a wreck on my wedding day. But once I saw your mom walking down the aisle towards me, all of the nerves melted away and I knew I was making the right choice.”
Matt and I finish our drinks at a slightly slower pace as we listen.
“I’m not nervous about marrying Kimberley,” Sebastian says. “I’m worried I’ll stutter and splutter on the vows or mess something up.”
“You won’t,” Dad says.
“Don’t be so sure,” Matt says with a wink. “He’s likely to say the wrong name or something.”
“Oh, thanks for that one. I hadn’t even thought of that. And now, it’s bound to happen.” Sebastian sighs.
“Come on. Before these two talk you out of it.” Dad laughs.
We leave the room and walk along a luxurious hallway. We take the elevator down to the ground floor and step out into the marble floored lobby. The whole lobby is decked out with white streamers and silver trim. We head out through the glass double doors to where the guests are gathering.
Dad shakes Sebastian’s hand. “Good luck son. I’m proud of you. All three of you.” He shakes my hand and Matt’s hand and then he spots Mom in the crowd and makes his way towards her.
“Let’s get you married,” I say, clapping Sebastian on the back.
We begin to move through the crowd towards the front of the area where the officiant waits.
People see us and come over to congratulate Sebastian.
We stop walking for a moment while he chats to someone from the crowd.
Immediately, I scan the crowd and I try to tell myself I’m not looking for Sierra, but I know I am. My eyes are drawn to her instantly like she’s the only person there.
She’s sitting next to Bernie and a couple of the other girls from the office. She’s wearing a pink, tight fitting gown that shows off her curves beautifully.
My cock twitches when I remember my hands on her hips and I will myself not to think about that now.
She looks tanned, glowing. Her hair is half up, pinned in little twirls and the bottom
