I run after her, not making any real effort to catch up.
She jumps into the pool with Hayley.
I watch them splashing each other and laughing, I know one thing for sure. I’m not the loser here. I am most definitely the winner.
Callie
I can feel my happiness bubbling up inside of me as I step away from the crowd of students. College has been a long, hard road, but I’ve finally graduated and I’m clutching my diploma as proof of that.
I begin to make my way through the people gathered in the large hall, our friends and family who have come out to support us today and celebrate with us. I scan the crowd looking for Matt. Finally, I spot him and run towards him.
He spots me coming towards him and his face breaks into a wide beam as he rushes forward to meet me.
We come together. He picks me up and spins me around. I clasp my hands behind his neck and even when he puts me back down I don’t let go of him. Instead, I stretch my face up to his and kiss him. His lips have the effect on me that they always do. They make my insides tingle, making me forget everyone around us and sneak off alone together.
Matt pulls back slightly and smiles at me. “I’m so proud of you,” he says quietly.
I raise up on my tiptoes and kiss him again. A long, passionate kiss that makes my pussy clench. Matt is so getting it tonight. I pull away from the kiss, suddenly remembering where we are, and that my grandparents were behind me when I spotted Matt. Being around him, even after three years together always has this effect on me. I guess that’s true love. It doesn’t fade away over time; it only gets stronger.
“There’s someone I want you to meet,” I whisper to him.
I already know my grandparents are going to love Matt almost as much as I do. How could they not when he makes me so happy?
Matt
I am so proud of Callie on her graduation day. I know how hard she has worked to graduate with honors and she’s worked full time all the way through college too. No amount of me telling her I would pay her tuition fees broke through her determination to do this alone. And now all of her hard work has paid off.
I hold her in my arms a moment longer after she tells me there’s someone she wants me to meet, just looking into her eyes that shine with excitement as she looks back at me. She’s so beautiful when she smiles.
“Come on,” she says, gently disentangling herself from my arms.
She turns around and an older couple stand off to one side looking at us. Callie leads me over to them. “Matt, this is Dorothy and Samuel, my grandparents. Grandma, Grandpa, this is Matt.”
I shake hands with Samuel and hug Dorothy.
“It’s nice to finally meet you Matt. We’ve heard a lot about you,” Samuel says.
“All good I hope,” I say.
Dorothy smiles and nods. “Oh, definitely. You make Callie very happy, I know that much.”
“Not half as happy as she makes me,” I smile.
This gets a look of approval from both Dorothy and Samuel.
“Because of how happy she is, we’ve even decided to turn a blind eye to the fact you’re both living in sin,” Dorothy says.
I feel my cheeks heat up.
Callie shrieks from beside me. “Grandma! You can’t say that… we’re doing no such thing!”
Dorothy laughs. “Sure you are. You think your grandpa and I don’t know you’re living with Matt? We’re giving you our blessing Callie, for goodness sake just accept it. We know things are different now to how they were when we were courting.”
“That word courting being one of them,” Callie laughs. “Seriously though, thank you. It means a lot that you’re giving us your approval.” She hugs each of her grandparents in turn.
They hug her back fiercely. It’s clear they dote on her.
“Why don’t you join us tonight for dinner son?” Samuel asks me. “We’re taking Callie out to celebrate her graduation and we’d love to have you along,”
“Oh no, I couldn’t impose like that. But thank you for the offer though,” I say.
“Nonsense,” Samuel replies. “You’re family now and I won’t take no for an answer.”
“Then I guess I’d better say yes then.” I grin. “Thank you.”
A friend of Callie’s comes over and congratulates her. She introduces her friend to her grandparents.
While they’re talking, Callie nudges me. “They really like you.” She smiles widely.
“Good,” I say, leaning down and kissing her again. “Because I’m happier with you than I’ve ever been in my life and I’m not planning on that changing.”
“It won’t,” Callie whispers. “I’ve never been happier either and I couldn’t have done all of this without you.”
I kiss her again and then her friend says her goodbyes and the four of us walk towards the exit ready to go for a family dinner.
Kimberley
I’m so tired I could easily fall asleep anywhere right now, but I want to stay awake. I want to be with Sebastian and Aria. I want to be awake when Carl gets here. Sebastian is watching me and I am suddenly conscious of the absolute state I must look. I can feel my hair sticking to my head with sweat from the labor. I give Sebastian a self-conscious smile. “What?” I ask.
“I was just thinking how good you look.” He smiles.
“You need to go to the eye doctor,” I joke.
“No, I don’t,” he says. “Kimberley you have given me the best gift anyone could have ever given me. A family. And you have never looked more amazing than you do right now.”
I can see him getting teary eyed again and I force myself into a sitting position. I lean forward and pull him into my arms.
He holds me tightly for a moment and then he releases me with a shaky laugh.
