In the end it works out because myvision's clear
My brother and the other
In a dimly lit room
My brother muttering “It'll bedone soon.”
The other guy a mystery, but still badnews
“Tell him we have the proof.”
“That's not the issue!” Mybrother snaps
“What happens if hegoes on the attack?
The entire plangoes up in smoke.
There's no point inrelying on a ghost.”
“He's underour control,” The other says
“It'll befine. Now, get out of your head.
I need your helpwith the next phase.
Even a dead man haslimited days.
The good thing iswe can use him to our advantage.
To one of them he'sfamily.
Now, get up andhelp me.”
Suddenly the visionends
My heart heavy Ilook to my partner, my friend
“What did yousee?” She asks concerned
“They'replanning something.” I reply
“Sadly,that's all I learned.”
“We need toreport to the chairman, now.”
Leigh's voice tenseyet stout
Taking the chimerawe head back
Back to our boss toreport fast
Those two areplanning something
We have to be ready
Opening a portal
My convictionssteady
Finally, revengewill be mine
Even if I have toforfeit my life, that'll be fine
They took my hope
Mypromise broke
My righteous angerthey will know

BookOne of the
EmeraldHood Trilogy
Myupcoming Sci-fi in Verse
“I had a dream,” I say“Last night.
That I was a contestant in the fight.
I narrowly won though the distance wastight.”
Duo looks at me with pity as he scoffs“Yeah right,
Like you could ever become the EmeraldHood.”
“But if I can convince themaster,” I say
“It won't happen,” Duoclaims
“Even if you had one thousanddays.
The master won't consent. Understood?”
My blood boils “No I don'tunderstand.
I don't understand a thing about thatman!
Why won't he let us be?
Why won't he let us free?
Does he not have an ounce of good?”
In this house of will and wealth
We are but tools upon a shelf
Slaves and servants, no manner of self
No freedom, no family, no way we evercould
Compete to be the Emerald Hood
If I ever had the chance
To show the world, to make my stance
To make them acknowledge, to make themglance
My skills to put them in a trance
I would
But to do it I need permission
From a man whose forced submission
Instills in me a distant vision
Of my father the Emerald Hood
A man, mighty as he fought
Against injustice, even in a tight spot
My past fuzzy, but it's all I've got
I need to make a way to take my shot
To be like him – The Emerald Hood
By the moon, the vision clearly
Showing him wounded severely
Still he found it in him really
To save his daughter as best he could
Strength is what it means to be theEmerald Hood
Not only strength, but a bonus too
Wealth and status – Authoritytrue
Throughout the system – Thepeople blue
I know what it is I must do
The question is how I could
Could I become the Emerald Hood?
“Girl!” So the master calls
My chance before me to risk it all
Bringing in his tea Low I fall
Bowing, though my pride withstood
Trying to earn his favor, good
“Thank you girl.” Hesharply replies
His eyes radiating a forced lie
“Master,” I say “MayI...”
Suddenly, a tightness in my chest
My body shakes as I do my best
My anxiety, oh this is not good
“Speak girl.” So he snaps
Taking a sip he then taps
“Well, have you nothing to say?
Do not waste my time.” He berates
It's now or never as I know I should
“Let me compete to be EmeraldHood!”
My tone echoes through the hall
As back in his chair he curdles andfalls
“Excuse me?!” He barks,demanding
“You dare to request that?
You need reprimanding!
Two nights without meals!
Never forget your place.
You are but a lowly servant.
The Hood stands great!
Get out of my sight!”
He raises his hand
I now remember why I hate this man
This house is a prison
It was never a home
I fight, defiant
And roam alone
I will make my dream a reality
Next time that he asks for tea
I will show him what it means to denyme
I am human just like him
But because he's duke
He's innocent of sin
Maybe I should run
On a whim
The image of my father - He & him
A man who's life was one of humilityand good
A servant no longer
That's who I wish to be
I wish to be the embodiment of good
I wish to be the Emerald Hood

As I wake up
A searing burn
Writhing in pain
A toss and a turn
Lifting my shirt
It smolders and smokes
The letter “V” on my chest
Instantly, I feel an urge driving me on
I have no time to rest
Lifting myself out from under a box
No idea where I'm going
But I'm not lost
As if
