to see. He studied the picture for a moment and then nodded.

“Lee had a couple pictures with that symbol in them. That’s the work of Obsidian all right.”

“So, what are we gonna do about it?” Alex asked.

“We have to approach this carefully. That means no texts, no emails, and no phone calls. All of our correspondence and communication regarding this group has to be done old school. Handwritten notes that we destroy after viewing. And after today, private conversations in locations where no one can hear us. It’s too risky to operate any other way. But we’re going to have to juggle this operation along with all our regular assignments so we won’t be drawing any suspicion from Obsidian. For all we know, this list could just be a partial one, and even outdated at that. We can’t let anyone—not even Fortner—know about what we’re up to. If word of this leaks, it could spell disaster for all of us.”

“What about the information we retrieved from Venice? Are we just going to put that on the backburner?” Alex asked.

“Funny that you should ask that,” Blunt said. “Guess whose name was on Lee Hendridge’s list?”

Alex shrugged.

“Andrei Orlovsky, the Russian arms dealer,” Blunt said.

“Meaning that his contacts could also be working with Obsidian?”

“That’s what I’m thinking, but we’ll have to sort all that out.”

“Sounds like loads of fun,” Hawk said, clapping his hands and rubbing them together. “Where do we start?”

“It’s interesting that you bring up the Chinese admirals, because we’re going after one first,” Blunt said. “However, he’s not an admiral for the Chinese—he’s one of our own. Our first target from Lee’s spreadsheet will be Admiral Bart Adelman.”

Hawk froze. “What name did you say?”

“Admiral Bart Adelamn. You know him?”

Hawk nodded. “He was my first commander when I was in the Navy SEALS.”

“You just never know about people, do you?” Blunt asked.

Hawk shook his head. “No, you don’t.”

Blunt set his glass down and stood. “Well, that’s enough of sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves. It’s time to get to work.”
