“That is exactly what I care to do, for the rest of my life.” He produced a black velvet box and held it out on his palm. In a voice a little thicker than normal, he said, “Roxy, would you marry me?”
She nodded furiously, swallowed past the thickness in her own throat, and finally said, “Yes!” and threw her arms around him.
“Wait. Roxy. Wait.” He disentangled himself. “Don’t you want to see the ring first?”
She shook her head. “You’re all I want. Although…” The box pulled her gaze. “I guess whatever’s in there will be the one thing I wear that you’ll fully approve of.”
His lips quirked. “It’s a nipple ring, actually.”
“It is not.” She reached for the box, but he folded his fingers around it.
“And I wholeheartedly approve, as long as I’m the only one who gets to see it.”
She wrapped her hand around his. “You big liar. Gimme!”
He opened his hand. She popped the lid and gasped at the gorgeous, square-cut ruby surrounded by tiny diamonds. “Oh, West, it’s gorgeous, but…how big do think my nipple is?”
“Too big?” he asked with mock seriousness.
“Maybe just a little.”
He took the ring out of the white silk bedding and slipped it on her finger. “Let’s try it here instead.” It fit perfectly, of course. Officer Donovan missed no detail. “I know it’s not traditional, but you like red and I like the idea of making our own tradition.”
“It’s perfect,” she assured him and leaned in to give him a long, heartfelt kiss. They were both breathing heavy when they drew apart.
“I love you, Roxy.”
“I love you, too.” She burrowed her hands under his sweater and pressed them to his warm, hard abs. “Take me home, West. I’m feeling reckless.”
He caught her wrists but didn’t move her hands. “How reckless?”
She gave his lower lip a quick, hard bite before replying, “Very reckless. Very wet and very reckless.”
He scooped her up into his arms and carried her back to the passenger seat of the pickup. “I wouldn’t wish you any other way.”

Acknowledgments
You guys, this book was a loooong time coming for a lot of personal reasons that simply couldn’t be helped. As much as I wanted to write this story, I would have never made it back to Bluelick without many barrels of red wine and…
• The love, sisterhood, and encouragement of Robin Bielman and Hayson Manning. Honestly, I’m not sure I would have made it out of bed, some days, without you ladies.
• The genuine kindness and patience of Heather Howland, rock star editor who somehow ended up with me in her otherwise reliable and productive group of authors.
• Liz Pelletier, rock star publisher, and the amazing team of talent she’s assembled at Entangled, for more of the aforementioned kindness and patience.
