train the people to defend themselves. That’s kept me busy. But Corvak is so much happier being back on a Vandar horde that I’m fine with fighting less.” She winked at me. “He does still spar with me in the battle ring, so I won’t get rusty.”

I blushed, realizing I hadn’t been aware that my sister was doing any of this. I’d been spending so much time in bed—and in the baths and on the floor and up against the walls—with Vassim that I hadn’t had much time to check on Sienna. Hence the peace offering with sweet bread.

“What about you, little sister?” Sienna eyed me. “I never would have thought you’d take to being a Vandar mate so seamlessly, and with a Raas no less. You’re sure he hasn’t brainwashed you?”

“I’m sure.”

“Well, like I said, life on a horde agrees with you.” She gave me a quick one-over. “And is it possible that your boobs have gotten bigger?”

“Look who’s talking,” I teased her, pointing to the swell of her breasts peeking above the scoop neck of her black shirt. “Yours definitely are. Maybe it’s something in the Vandar water.”

She peeked at her own cleavage and then back at mine. “Tvekking hell.”

“What? Since when do you use Vandar curses?”

“They’re even better than old Earth curses,” she said, glancing suspiciously at the box of breads. “Why aren’t you eating any of your baking?”

“My stomach has been acting weird. It’s no biggie,” I said, using one of her favorite Earth phrases.

“Not yet it isn’t,” Sienna muttered, scraping a hand through her loose hair with a laugh.

“What are you talking about?”

“Come on, Juliette. I know you aren’t this naïve anymore. Nausea, bigger boobs? We’re both pregnant.”

I stared at her, cataloging all the mornings I’d woken up feeling queasy, and how tender my breasts had become. “Tvek, you’re right.”

“See? Sometimes only a Vandar curse will do.”

Despite my shock, I placed a hand over my mouth as uncontrollable laughter bubbled up in my throat. “What are Vassim and Corvak going to say?”

“About what?” Corvak asked, the door to the quarters sliding open to reveal both Vandar raiders.

“Baru told me you were visiting your sister,” Vassim said, following his battle chief inside. “He also said you baked.”

I stared at him, unable to think of a single response.

“Is everything okay?” Corvak finally asked, looking from me to Sienna.

Sienna walked over to her mate and pressed her hands to his bare chest. “Do you remember how Tori was complaining about the babies they were going to have on board the ship soon?”

He nodded. “She said she was going to move into one of the escape pods when the three babies arrived.”

“What would say to two babies on this ship?”

Corvak looked down at her, his face blank for a moment. Then his eyes widened. “You’re having two babies?”

“No.” She slapped his chest. “Juliette is having one, and I’m having one. At least, we’re pretty sure we are. We’ll have to confirm it.”

Raas Vassim crossed to me in two long strides, putting a hand to my belly. “Is this true?”

I nodded as the backs of my eyelids pricked with happy tears. “I think so.”

He dropped to his knees, placing a kiss on my belly and murmuring something in Vandar. Then he stood and pulled me into an embrace, lifting me off my toes.

“I take it you’re happy?” I asked, seeing Corvak hugging my sister behind us.

“I didn’t think I could be happier than I already was with you,” Vassim whispered. “But now I am. We’re going to be a family.”

“A big family,” Sienna said, holding out her hand for me to take.

I grabbed her hand with one of mine and took Vassim’s hand in the other, squeezing them both. I finally had the family I’d always dreamed about—and it was only the beginning.

About the Author

Tana Stone is a bestselling sci-fi romance author who loves sexy aliens and independent heroines. Her favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), her favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and she loves Star Wars and Star Trek equally. She still laments the loss of Firefly.

She has one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. She sometimes wishes she could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in her tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet
