with you as the focal point. We know you inside and out, every aspect, nuance, every chill, thrill, and frill you have ever experienced, even the fact you never even realized you have more than one soul within you. This soulmate business? I thought it to be rubbish myself. But having now experienced it on my own? It is not sheer instant attraction; it is a visceral, powerful melding of souls that surpasses merely falling in love with someone.”

Once we were both spent, I lay there a moment more in complete and utter ecstasy, my gaze locked onto the other two pieces of my soul, and it began all over again, with them as the stars this time. Seeing into them in the same way as I had with Adorjan.

He continued speaking, more to himself than to me, but the part of me that belonged to him still heard every word. “Aw, szerelmem, this will truly be a challenge not even the greatest of Seers will be able to help us with. Your body contains four souls, three of which belong to three different alpha males whose species are certainly not known for sharing. Yet we are instinctively driven to see to your happiness, well-being, and protection. While that fact may very well aid us in finding a way out of here to see you safe, and Hel have mercy upon the one who dares touch you, there is no telling how we will react with one another once you are out of harm’s way. We also must consider who, én kedvesem, does the fourth part of you belong to?”

As he said the last, goosebumps spread all across my flesh, and could swear I heard a dark, evil, and very masculine laugh in the back of my mind. Worst part? That laugh made me come even harder than the sensation of Adorjan pulling out.

Missing Pieces

“Oh no,” Tialanna was the first to speak as all the sisters began to rouse after expending so much power. She tried sitting up but ended up flopping right back down on the couch, groaning and covering her face with both hands, mumbling, “This is not good, so not good.”

Right before Tialanna came back into consciousness, she had inadvertently slipped into the mind of her third husband, who was also her mate. It was something that happened from time to time when one or the other was under extreme stress, a bond made even stronger if they had recently shared blood. Tialanna had forced him to stay behind when she came to check on the situation, knowing the stress of something possibly harming their daughter, Jelissa; but also having no clue as to Jelissa’s whereabouts or who had the tenacity and balls to take her, would more than likely make him lose control to the point where his demonic form would no doubt emerge.

To her utter horror, that was about to happen anyway. She couldn’t quite make out everything that was transpiring, but she could feel his panic and rage building and knew he was not alone. And while the vampire community was in the know of what both he and Kierra were, none of the other factions knew a damned thing. But if Bran didn’t rein in his emotions, and soon, they were all about to find out in a very unpleasant way.

“Who the fuck told Bran?” was the next thing to come out of Tia’s mouth. She attempted to stand on still weak legs, and promptly sat back down as she saw a not so happy Chandler approaching. And given the fact Tia didn’t back down from much of anything, his expression must have been one to behold.

“First off, my love, why don’t you sit your gorgeous ass down until you recuperate?” he replied very calmly, maybe too much so since as he continued, Tia shrank back a little more and visibly took a nervous gulp. Chandler wasn’t the tallest vampire, but his presence made him seem enormous at times like these, his salt and pepper hair standing at attention, almost stock-still, as if his hairs’ nerves were also on edge.

Crossing in long strides from the vast doorway to stand before his wife, he continued in a growingly lethal tone, “Secondly, he doesn’t exactly need any of us to tell him a damned thing with the connection we share. And with all the emotions the two of us have been feeling, he clearly knows something most disastrous must be underway. Now, just because you sense him feeling some type of way, does not mean he knows precisely what is going on. And by the way, thank you for forcing me to be the one to tell Grimm he’s a daddy.” The last carried a lisp as his canines began to extend when his emotions boiled over.

Which, quite naturally, prompted hers. Gone was the glimpse of timid, fragile Tia; back was the fierce, Queen Tialanna, evidenced by the steam quite literally wafting off her shoulders. Good thing the guard had evacuated the majority of the children already, as things were about to get ugly.

“Listen here, my loving, arrogant, condescending, know-it-all husband whom I love very dearly, let’s not forget it wasn’t my idea alone to not tell him. Furthermore, if I didn’t know for a fact our irrational demon knows exactly what’s going on, I would not be reacting this way right now.” She sat up straight then, giving off such a royal and strong presence he began to take a step back, even though she hadn’t even so much as stood. Sometimes one could stand their ground without standing, some people anyway, and Tialanna was definitely one of those people. “While I was out, either someone told him what has happened, or while my guard was down, I might have inadvertently called out to him. Either way, he now knows. I heard him raging so loud in my head, which is how I am the only one who has so much as roused,
