upon myself to go and open it as everyone is congregating in the main living space. It had started to rain on my own drive, and the weather was predicted to turn worse, so it wasn’t fair to leave someone on the door step.

I stall upon opening it. Matthew, under the cover of an umbrella. He was as stunned as I felt...but we didn’t get a second to speak as the guy throwing the party arrived to greet him and I politely slipped away. I had to immediately banish the memory of how dashing he looked in the stunning navy suit otherwise tonight was going to be hell.

I tried as hard as I could to stay in the kitchen for the rest of the dinner shift, but I was needed to serve and clear plates. I worked with my head down, mercifully clearing the top section of the table; Matthew had been seated further down, almost opposite to my section. I didn’t make eye contact, and I prayed that my shaking hands would keep a tight hold of the china plates.

“Hello.” I jerk in fright when I hear Matthew speak just a few feet from me. I was back in the cellar, finding an expensive wine at Andrea’s request. I hug the dusty bottle to my chest. “I’m sorry I didn’t escort you home, I was needed in the office.”

“It’s okay.” I exhale roughly. “Look, that morning...”

“Do you think it was mistake?”

I sigh. “Out of that entire episode...that...that time we had, that made sense.”

“I miss you Talia.”

My heart soars. “I miss you too, but...”

“But what? It’s complicated? Of course it is!”

“No, I was going to say...I’m complicated...”

“I don’t care. Half of it was my doing anyway.”

I hear someone call my name. “Shit, they are looking for this.” I close the cellar door over, pressing Matthew and I into the small stairwell. God he smells good.

“Come home with me tonight, please.”

“My car is here.”

“Jake can collect it, take it back to the city. Just do what you need to do, I’ll catch up with my friend and then we leave together. We should talk.”

I try to suppress my laugh. “There’s nothing to talk about.”

“Talia.”

“I mean...where you are concerned, you’re the only one that makes sense.”

“You haven’t spoken to Daniel or your mother?”

“They...they both seem to be avoiding me and it just means...it has to be the truth.”

Matthew mutters something dark under his breath before he takes the bottle from my hands, placing it carefully on a near step and guides me towards the wall. He slides his hands over my backside as his lips meet mine. Hearing him groan as we connect makes me utterly and instantly wet; it was such a sexy sound that it made my nipples tight.

“God, I want to bury myself inside of you.”

“I want that...” I kiss him lightly on the lips. “I want that and more.”

“You got it.” He slips his hand up the front of my skirt. “I need to touch you, to taste you...” His eyes grow large. “No panties?”

I shake my head, “No. Since that night...I prefer not to wear them.” I widen my stance, allowing him to take a deep and thorough swipe that pushes me halfway to orgasm. I watch him as he withdraws his fingers, tasting me before he brings me in for a kiss, my body primed and ready.

“I’m sorry for what I did Talia.” He presses his forehead against mine.

“The truth would have found me.” I sigh. “But Matthew, I’m so glad you found me first.”
