as soon as I could get more oxygen in my lungs.  I was totally going to tell him.

I wheezed out, “I don’t belong to anyone, especially not you, asshole.” Yep I totally told him, didn’t I?  I should be begging for mercy, but I refused to go down without a fight. People were always fooled into a false sense of security with me, they took one look at me and thought I was a push over. They were seriously wrong, my dad taught me how to survive life when life gives you a shit sandwich with a side of fucked up fries. I had a backbone made of steel, and there was no way in hell I was letting Jackass McWolf break me before I died.

With my eyes on hot biker dude I tried to convey he needed to run, but apparently my message got lost in translation. There was a hint of a grin on his face, maybe he wasn’t very bright. He was probably one of those hot guys who were all brawn and no brain. What a shame all that hotness and nothing between his ears to help guide him in life.

“Wraith, what are you doing? She’s human, let them have her and let’s get the fuck out of here man.” The younger man from the corner of my eye moved closer to hot biker dude, but he didn’t seem to be listening. I tried to nod in agreement with the younger guy, but again hot biker dude was not getting the signals. Jackass McWolf tightened his hand around my throat once more, causing my vison to start blurring, I figured I had about five more minutes before I passed out.

“Snake man, hurry this shit up, we didn’t sign up for no fight with the Dark Leopards.” McWolfs compatriots shuffled from foot to foot, clearly uncomfortable with the idea of a fight with the big bad hot biker dude.

“Shut the fuck up Cueball, I’m not finished with her yet, I haven’t even gotten to taste that sweet untainted pussy of hers yet. If you want your turn, you’ll stay right the fuck where you are and back me up.” McWolfs buddy practically salivated at the idea that he was going to share me with him, and my stomach churned with disgust.

“MINE.” Hot biker dude looked about as shocked at his words as the younger guy next to him, while the wolves looked at me with glee in their beady eyes. “Put her down, put her down now and walk away. Do it and I might let the rest of your crew live. Don’t and I’ll bleed them just like I’m about to bleed you for putting your hands on her. Your choice.” His voice sounded gravelly, sexy and gravelly, but he didn’t understand who and what he was messing with. I had to protect him even if it cost me my own life, I couldn’t have his death on my conscience. Putting all my strength into it I wiggled, scratched, and kicked McWolf until he got pissed. When he lifted me just a fraction of a second his grip loosened.

“RUN!” I tried to yell, but it came out as barely a whisper thanks to the damage Jackass McWolf had done to my throat. Seconds later my skull collided with the brick wall, pain radiates down my entire body. There was a wetness pooling in my hair against the brick wall. I knew then that it was my end and I welcomed it. My eyes started to feel like heavy sandbags, it was taking everything in me to keep them open. There was an ear-piercing howl that seemed to come from hot biker dude moments before something big slammed into McWolf, causing him to release his grip quickly. I slid down to the ground, my body angled to the side in a heap of unmoving limbs. Nothing would work for me, not my arms, or my legs, I was completely helpless.

It was too late for the biker. I would die with the regret of not being able to save them. Strange sounds filled the night air as dark shadows danced in front of my eyes.  I couldn’t focus on anything. Terrifying sounds were all around me, but they started growing fainter. I used to joke to my friends that my hearing would go first because of old age, but apparently it was your limbs and eyesight that went right before you die. Who knew?

The fact that now Jackass McWolf would not be slicing me open and letting me bleed out like he had planned gave me some solace. He’d been searching for me since the night we met, or not really met, more like saw each other. Psycho said he couldn’t get my scent out of his mind, so pure, so ripe, and I still smelled the same. He planned to be my first and then pass me around to the rest of his band of merry little wolves with him.

As I embraced the darkness, I thought about all the things I would never get to do now. Fall in love, get married, have oodles of babies, write a number one best seller, okay that last one was probably never going to happen regardless, but maybe the rest would have, eventually. Sadness gripped me as I thought of all things I’d missed out on because I was searching for evidence of the very monsters that were responsible for killing me. Okay honestly, I hadn’t really missed out on much while doing my research, which in a way was even sadder.

There was a part of me that swelled with pride when the tiny human fought the wolves, such a brave little thing surrounded by so many monsters. I’d kill the fuckers for even looking at my mate wrong. Fuck, no not my mate, the tiny human was not my mate, I didn’t want a mate, I wasn’t meant to have a mate, I wasn’t built
