was going to blow one of his deals out of the water though and he would possibly lose money from it so there was no end to what he would do. I don’t know what it was about this town though, I needed to be here. I just had to figure out why.

After my run, I was feeling a little saner. Not a lot but it was an improvement. I knew I could walk into the club and be of help to Blaze and not just another pain in his ass. I hadn’t decided what I was going to do about the mystery woman yet but I knew I was getting closer to the right decision. I had to hold the asshole back from going after her. He could feel her in town but that was not somewhere we could be. Perhaps if I went to the bar tonight and she was there, I would let my instincts take over instead of fighting them. Well most of them. There was the one that wanted to bite and claim her that I would be ignoring. I wanted to talk to her not scare the living shit out of her and have her running for the hills. As I ran last night, Blaze’s words went around my head. Did he know something I didn’t? Had he seen that my gift wouldn’t work on her or was it that I just wasn’t the same person as I had been? I wasn’t a scared person running from his past. I knew what I needed to do to prevent that from ever happening again. This was someone’s safety we were talking about and not something that he would play with. Or so I wanted to believe. I didn’t want the disappearances in town to be clouding his judgment. It was then that I was struck with a thought. What if that was why he was telling me that I needed to get my head out of my ass? Not that he said it in those words but it meant the same thing. Was she going to be one of them? I felt a rush of panic take over and had to stop myself before the asshole took over. I had just managed to get him to chill the fuck out. The last thing I needed was to set him off again. Taking a deep breath to clear my head, pushing him back to the deepest darkest part of my head to play with the other demons that resided there, I grabbed my keys and went out to my garage, locking the front door behind me.

Pressing the button that opened my garage door, I felt my body relax a little at the sight of my two loves. My Harley-Davidson Dyna-Glide Super Glide Sport and my Dodge Charger, both in jet black. I had the club logo painted on my bike to symbolize who I was if for some reason I wasn’t wearing my cut but my Charger was clean. If I couldn’t be on my bike, then I wanted to be behind that wheel. It had taken a lot of hard work to get that so I made sure to take damn good care of it. It saw the best mechanic in town and was serviced on time, every time. Running my hand along the top of the roof, I couldn’t help but grin before I moved over to my bike. Taking my helmet off the seat, I put it on before throwing one leg over it and put the key in the ignition and started it up. Kicking up the stand, I rode it out of the garage. Pressing the button that puts the garage door down, I waited until it was closed completely before taking off toward the club.

After spending the weekend sorting out club business with Blaze. I did my best to stay away from the bar and keep my mind on the task at hand. By Friday though, I was ready to snap. The pull to her was getting stronger and I couldn’t ignore it any longer. Walking into the bar, I took a seat at the end of the bar.

“Nice to see you back. Having your usual?”

“Please, Chelsea.” Taking a glass from under the bar, she added some ice and poured my scotch. She sat it in front of me before going off to serve someone else. The door opened and my senses went off. I knew she was here. Looking over my shoulder, I saw her and a friend. She said something to her friend before coming over to the bar. I downed my drink before dropping my head and closed my eyes as her scent washed over me. She smelled of vanilla. Chelsea moved back over to us, as she was standing near me.

“Kaitlyn, just finished work?”

“No, I worked this morning. Amy just finished though. Came to have a few drinks on a Friday night.”

“What can I get for ya?”

“Vodka and red bull and a Canadian Club please?”

“Coming right up.” Chelsea filled up my glass before moving to get the girls’ drinks.

“I didn’t cut in front, did I?” It took me a minute to realize that she was talking to me. I picked up my glass and took a drink, shaking my head.

“Ignore him, he doesn’t speak except to tell me he wants the usual.” I rolled my eyes at Chelsea and muttered under my breath.

“At least I used my manners.” I heard a laugh from beside me. Kaitlyn, as Chelsea called her, was looking over at me.

“Hi, I’m Kaitlyn. I have seen you in here a few times.”

“Kane.” Chelsea was back and putting the drinks down in front of her. Kaitlyn paid for the drinks before picking them up.

“It was nice to meet you, Kane.” She moved back to her friend as I finished my second glass. Chelsea leaned down on the bar so we were now eye level.

“You keep going through
