got older.

That’s when the truth started to come out and I realized why she kept being so busy.

I twirl my hair around my index finger as I try to figure out what I’m going to eat for dinner after that weird meeting with Axl and his son.

I mean, Mr. Tanner. Calling him Axl even in my mind makes me a little too comfortable with this crush thing I have going on. And the fact that I have a crush on my student’s father is crazy.

I remember sitting at the table eating homemade lasagna which took my mother hours to make and hearing my parents fight about what my dad has been doing while at work.

“We have a daughter! Have you ever thought about that?” My mom demands.

I can hear my dad clearing his throat. “Myra, of course I didn’t forget about our daughter. This shit around here costs money! Money that I give you. Have you ever thought about how much money goes into this house?”

“Have you ever thought about what being with those things will do to your reputation? You’re playing a game with the devil!”

“Will you stop being such a drama queen? I’m doing what needs to be done to make sure our home is still intact! You want to keep our daughter in private school?”

I have always attended private schools and have liked it for the most part. Of course, I have no idea what it is like in a public school setting, so I can’t judge.

I just hate it when my parents are arguing. It makes me antsy.

“You’re playing a game,” my mom repeats. “You’re going to lose eventually and then what? Then what are we going to do? I can’t believe you would do that with them.”

I pull into the parking lot of one of the restaurants in town so I can get something to eat. I park my car and pull out the keys out of the ignition. After grabbing my bag, I look around the parking lot to see a motorcycle in the parking lot as well.

Well hells bells!

Being the daughter of the mayor, I normally don’t have to wait to be seated and am walking past Axl and Braydon’s table. Is the waitress really going to seat me this close to them? Is she trying to give me a damn heart attack!

“Ms. Burns!” Braydon greets me excitedly.

Throwing on my best teacher smile, I wave at them while taking my own seat. It’s awkward as hell running into a student, but it’s even more awkward running into a student and his hotter than shit dad.

I’m going to need to pick up some batteries on my way home. There’s no way in hell I can go to bed without any relief.

“Can Ms. Burns sit with us, dad?”

I want to place my head in my palm. I can’t say no to him. He’s my favorite student and what kind of example would that give if I ignore him?

Axl’s eyes are looking over at me and they look as if he wants to eat me alive. “Only if Ms. Burns wants to, little buddy.”

Sabotage! He did this to me on purpose!

I tightly smile at them, walking over to their table to eat dinner with the hottest man known to womankind. “I don’t want to interrupt!” I interject before sitting with them.

Axl’s sexy grin is promising me all sorts of naughty things. “You’re not interrupting. In fact, why don’t you sit next to me.”

He phrases it like a question but there is no room for an answer. There’s something about him that makes me want to comply to everything he wants. I could not say no to him even if I wanted to.

The second I drop my body into the booth next to him, he is placing his arm around the back of the booth for me to nestle in. Does he have to make this hard for me?

I could just imagine what the other patrons of the restaurant are thinking and what they are going to say to my dad. My dad would have a field day over this! It was bad enough I didn’t join the family’s goal of having a politician in the family, but now dating a biker?

Oh jeeze.

“Have you ordered yet?” I ask to make conversation.

“Yeah, but I’m sure we could get Sheila over here in just a second to take your order.”

He knows the waitress by name? Of course, he does! He’s probably banging her!

And why does that make me the teeniest jealous?

It is official! I have lost my damn mind.

“Hi, Dana,” Sheila greets me with no warmth.

It is no secret Sheila and I have never got along. In fact, I hate the bitch and she hates me. She tried so hard to get onto the cheerleading squad but they picked me over her. You would have thought I ran over her cat!

“Hi, Sheila. I would like a cob salad please.”

“Hey again, Axl!” She smoozes.

I roll my eyes.

Sheila turns away quickly and I’m left to eat with Axl and his son. My student.

“What brings you out?” Axl asks me while taking a drink of his water.

“Same as you. Hungry.”

He smirks. I’m looking at him out of the corner of my eye as I’m being careful to not actually look at him. There is something about this man that has me losing my damn mind.

“Didn’t feel like cooking at home?” He asks with a raised eyebrow.

“I don’t like cooking and then eating my food by myself. It’s depressing,” I blurt. I’m instantly wishing I could take those words back.

Axl

Her thoughts are only confirming what I have known all along. This hot teacher wants me as much as I want her. I just have to figure out how to wear her down a little.

“So, no man at home?” I question. I want her to tell me right now if she’s seeing someone. I don’t see a wedding ring on her finger, so she must not be married.

Prez, where ya
