We need to hash this shit out before we take on our mission. I need to be able to trust all of my brothers at all times to have my back. I don’t wanna feel as if one of them would purposely turn a blind eye if I was being preyed upon, without any knowledge of it happening.
Men can be mysterious creatures when emotions are at an all-time high. We don’t talk them out like women do, we fight and fuck them away.
As soon as I sit on the bed that’s in front of him, he lifts his head up and gives me a look that would send most men running in the opposite direction; just so happens, I’m not like those men.
“Now’s not a good time, Shamus,” he declares, and I can tell he’s having a hard time reining himself in.
“Before you decide that I need to pay a price, I need to tell you a little story,” I inform him as I lean in closer to him. I gave them all the quick, watered-down version of everything I discovered while alone with Star. But there’s so much I kept to myself. He needs to be made aware of all of the dirty and nitty-gritty details of what his sister-in-law has been through and has had to endure. I hold nothing back from Star’s and my conversation.
When I wind down, I pull out the polaroid’s that I’d taken earlier that day. This is the first time Kruger will lay eyes on his niece. He holds the picture closer to his face and a semblance of a smile comes out. “She looks a lot like my Stella,” he admits as he admires the little girl who’s already stolen a huge chunk of my heart from just existing.
“They both favor one another; the only difference is that Stella has blonde locks and Star has a darker color. You can tell that Ella’s gonna sport a darker blonde color as she ages.”
“You better do right by her, brother,” he tells me in a firm, demanding voice. “Stella’s really worried about her. I just want my old lady happy, and bringing her sister home will give that to her.”
“I give you permission to break my balls if you think I’m mistreating her in any way,” I laughingly impart.
“I don’t need your permission, brother. It’s a given, she sheds one tear because of you and you will answer to me.”
“I know I should be offended, Kruger, but I’m actually not. I’m glad she’s gonna have someone else in her corner. She needs that, she needs family and a sense of belonging. But don’t run roughshod over her, Kruger. She doesn’t react well to someone trying to control her. She’s had to deal with that her entire life.”
“I don’t plan on attempting to run her life, brother, I just wanna be someone she can depend on. I want her to know that she’ll always have me at her back.”
“She’ll appreciate that, Kruger. She needs that, so does Ella. I believe that little girl has only known unconditional love from her mother and who I’m presuming is her nanny.”
“Are y’all done making up now, can we get down to business?” Gunner interrupts us. I can tell he’s growing impatient while waiting for us to hash this shit out.
“Yeah, we’re good,” Kruger speaks up, slapping me on the shoulder.
“Let’s do this,” I state, standing up and walking over to where the others are gathered together.
I share all of the intel I was able to gather today as I scouted out the situation. Both Ella and Star are well guarded, it’s not going to be an easy in and out type of rescue. We’ll need to go in guns blazing, yet, at the same time, make sure that neither one of them are in harm's way. It’s hard to arrange a mission around the mental status of a toddler. We can’t allow her to be petrified of us, we need to be able to have her immediate and utmost trust in order for things to go as they are outlined.
We don’t want to take any chances of being spotted in town before we’re able to pull things off. So tonight, we’re going in while no one is made aware of the fact that the DreamCatcher Motorcycle Club has invaded this town.
Once I informed my brothers that this town seems to fear and bow down to Jeremiah, we concluded that the longer we wait, the more danger there is to the girls and us.
Just a few more hours to countdown, and hopefully my woman’s nightmares will be extinguished, and she can become the lucky, carefree woman I’ve dreamed about. I got a small taste today of the kind of woman she is when she’s not under Jeremiah’s thumb. I can’t wait to witness more of that happiness radiating from her.
Before we rode out for the night, I was pleasantly surprised to see more of my brothers rolling in. I know that enough men stayed behind to protect the women and kids at home, but I worry about if it’s enough. Jamie is still on the loose and I don’t trust him or his minions not to take advantage of the fact that there aren't enough men there to fight him off.
I still don’t understand how he was able to pull the wool over our eyes nor how we missed such a key piece of evidence that the fucker had an identical twin out there. Fuck, not even Cameron knew that tid-bit of information and she and Jamie were an item for months.
But Gunner is a strong leader so I don’t question his decisions. We know that the few of us that were here are not enough to divide ourselves equally and hit both places at once without some possible casualties on our end.
Kruger is taking a group with him and going after Ella and the nanny, after a lot
