Oh well, I guess none of the bunnies will mess with my man anymore. Not with my mini-me running around anyway.
“Mommy!” My little girl comes running up to me. It’s later in the evening and a slight chill permeates the air. I’m currently sitting in Shamus’ lap around the lit fire. My girl had been off with her aunt, uncle and cousin while they played on the swing set. There’s a baby swing and Kruger was pushing Jaggar while Stella was pushing Ella.
“What is it, baby girl?”
“Aunt Stella says I can have a sleepover in Jaggar’s room. Can I?” she inquires, and I nearly smile when I see that she’s a little girl acting her age for once with her pouty lips sticking out… daring me to say no.
“I don’t see why that’d be a problem,” I tell her. Her portacrib is easily broken down and transferable. “I’ll get you a bath and into your p.j.’s then we’ll break down your bed and put it in Jaggar’s room.” I’m explaining this all in detail to her so she understands there are things needing to be done before calling it a night.
“And brush my teeth,” she says, opening her mouth wide to let me know they need a good scrubbing.
“And, your teeth,” I refer to her statement.
“Can we do that now, Mommy?”
“Yes, baby, we can.”
“While you’re bathing our girl, I’ll get her bed broken down and moved. Are you sure you are alright with not sleeping in the same room as your momma and me?” Shamus asks her, but I can tell that he’s wanting her to rethink this and demand to stay with us. He’s quite fond and attached to my little girl… his little princess.
“I’m a big girl, Mr. Shamus. I wanna have my first sleepover with my cousin.” She places her hands on her hips, shooting him a look to let him know she does not wanna be seen as a little girl any longer.
“If you insist,” he pouts. “Let’s get you ready, shall we?”
“Shamus, she’s gonna be fine, honey.”
“Maybe we should've gotten one of those monitor things so we could hear her if she wakes up and needs us. This doesn’t seem like a good idea, we weren’t prepared for this, Star.” We’re standing inside the door frame, watching the little ones laying in their beds, gibbering at each other. Well, Jaggar is gibbering, but Ella is talking to him as if she understands every garble leaving his toothless mouth.
“Come on, Shamus, tonight is Momma’s night to be catered to,” I purr, which gets his attention turned to me quickly.
“I guess there is one benefit to not having our girl in the same room as us,” he ponders before scooping down and tossing me over his shoulder. “Night, Ella.” He calls this out as he ambles down the hallway with me in tow. His shoulder is digging into my belly, and whereas I’m not as sore today as I was yesterday, I still feel it and grit my teeth so that I don’t let him know. If he thinks I’m the tiniest bit suffering, he’ll never touch me. And I need to feel him, I want to experience the feeling of him buried deep inside of me.
I’ve been reliving our first time with one another, dreaming of it both with my eyes open and shut. He invades me like none other before him. That should have been a sign that Jeremiah wasn’t the one for me. I could live with him or without him. But he took me off the streets and gave me a home, so I was willing at one point to look past all the weird ways he acted and the way he treated me. I always made excuse after excuse of why he was becoming the man he was.
Brushing him out of my mind, because he has no room here, I get amped up at what’s to come. Shamus makes me feel all warm and toasty with his touches, his looks, and I can’t wait to not have a shield up, and let him in all the way.
And I decided for sure tonight, that I’m willing to give all that I am to him. My heart, my body and my soul. I have no more fear about how he’ll do in life with my daughter. He’s known her a very short time, and already you can see and feel the love radiating from him when it comes to Ella. And me.
I’m ready to face the unpredictability of life with him.
I know he’ll keep us both safe. We’ll both be loved unconditionally by him for the rest of our lives.
Chapter Fourteen
Shamus
As soon as we make it to our room, I use my booted foot to shut the door behind us. Grasping her lips with my own, I glide my tongue along the seam of her lips. She opens beautifully for me, and a spark of recognition ramps through my being. My body recognizes the woman who belongs to me. It’s only been a day since the girls were brought here, and already they're both opening up and letting their walls down.
Ella was acting like a kid, it’s interesting to watch how much trust she has in us and allows her personality to shine. I was worried that there’d be years of submission that we’d have to break her of, but she’s surprised us all with how quickly she’s bounced back.
Kids are far more resilient than any adult. Star and Jessia have both began to settle in, but I’ve noticed them both watching over their shoulders, as if they expect the boogey-man to jump out and take them.
That asshole and his minions can try, but as soon as they do, the reaper will be waiting on
