“Y-yeah sure.”
I take the long way back to campus, wanting to prolong our ride. Far too soon our ride is over, and I pull up in front of my apartment. I help Laken off and grab her hand. “I just have to run inside real quick.”
“Oh … this is your apartment?” Her hand spasms in mine as she follows me to the door. We head inside the building, and I let us in my apartment. “Wow, this place is great.”
Laken spins in a slow circle as she looks around.
“Thanks.” I tell her as I walk toward my dresser peeling my t-shirt off. I grab my red polo with the fraternity insignia on it because yes, we’re those douche bags who wear our matching shirts when we throw parties.
With my shirt in hand, I turn to head into the bathroom and find Laken staring at me. I know what she sees—I’m lean but muscular, and I do have an eight pack. I even have that V that seems to make the ladies come. I’ve always taken care of my body.
I don’t miss the deep shade of pink her cheeks are, or the way her tongue peeks. My dick likes the way she’s looking at me, but I’m afraid that’d scare her off right now. Something in my gut tells me I need to let her lead the way to anything physical.
Chapter Eight
Laken
I lay on my side and watch Chance sleep on the sofa. I moan as I roll to my back because I’m so freaking embarrassed about what happened last night.
After I was done gawking at Chance’s beautiful body, we walked down the street to his frat house. The place was crowded, and the entire house was messed up. Our plan was to stay for a drink and for him to make the rounds with his brothers.
I had been standing off to the side while Chance was playing a game of bags, when a girl with long brown hair and a killer body came up to me. “Hi,” she said.
“Hi.” I know, real original.
She looked at Chance and then back at me. “You’re from Riverside, aren’t you? I think I know you.”
My heart began to race, and a sick feeling took over. “No, I’m not. I’m from Phoenix.” I kept my voice calm, indifferent, but friendly.
“Oh … okay.” She looked at me closely. “Wow, you really look like this girl I went to school with.” She shook her head, walked away, and I was able to breathe again. I walked over to the bar just off the deck.
“Hey, you’re here with Chance, right?” the guy behind the bar said.
I nodded. “Yeah, I’m Laken.”
He reached out and shook my hand. “I’m Hunter. I’m the president. What can I get you?”
“Nice to meet you, Hunter. I’ll take a vodka tonic if you can make one.”
I turned to watch Chance talking to his friend Trey and a couple other guys from his fraternity. He must’ve felt me looking at him because he looked up, giving me a smile that made my belly quiver.
“Here you go.” Hunter handed me my drink.
“Thank you,” I told him promptly before sucking the liquor down. I needed another drink, but I didn’t want to appear to have a drinking problem. On my way back to Chance I pretended to trip, dropping my glass. One of his brothers got me another drink.
Before I knew what was happening, I was drunk. When I’m drunk I dance. Thankfully I wasn’t the only female who got out on the makeshift dancefloor, dancing my heart out.
Chance watched me from the side with a smile on his face until I finally dragged him out to dance with me. There must be something he’s bad at, but it appears that he’s good at everything he does. The moment he wrapped his arms around me, we began moving to the beat of the music.
Someone handed us shots, and I tossed mine back. I giggled like a lunatic when he dipped me. I didn’t miss the look some of the girls were giving me, or us, but I was buzzed enough that I ignored them.
When we finished dancing, he led me to some chairs, but I was so buzzed that I tripped over my own feet. I giggled, but then I thought about Ava and was immediately embarrassed by my behavior.
Somehow Chance could sense that he needed to get me out of there. He held my hand as we quickly said goodbye to everyone. The desire to throw up hit me out of nowhere, and I quickly yanked my hand from his, running to the closest bush.
Chance held my hair back as I expelled all of the alcohol I drank. “I’m sorry, Laken. You’re tiny, and you drank a lot. I should’ve kept a better eye on you.”
His words warmed me, but it wasn’t his fault. I let that girl’s words spook me and decided to try to drink those thoughts away. I shook my head. “No, this is all me.”
He surprised me by scooping me up in his arms like I weighed nothing. “I can’t put you on the back of my bike. I want you to stay at my place.” I opened my mouth to speak, but he stopped me. “I’ll sleep on the couch.”
“I’m sorry.” I laid my head on his shoulder and promptly passed out.
Now, I gingerly climb out of his bed, heading into his bathroom. I shut the door behind me and quickly use the toilet. I find his toothpaste and quickly brush my teeth with my finger. I
