She nods. “Better this time.”
“I promise it won’t be like the last time,” I tell her.
“I promise I won’t give up on you if you don’t give up on me,” she says.
I place a kiss on her forehead. “I’ve got you.”
“Good,” she replies.
“But just to confirm, you’re not still drunk, right? Like, you’ll remember this tomorrow and not change your mind?” I ask.
She shrugs. “I guess we’ll know tomorrow,” she says, then bursts out laughing. The sound is music to my ears.
“Damn, it’s like that,” I tell her.
“You did choose to talk to me at a club after I had multiple shots,” she says, reminding me.
“I just hope you remember,” I tell her.
“I’ll never forget how I feel about you, Kayden,” she says, her words certain.
“I love you,” I tell her.
“I love you too,” she says, then she’s the one closing the distance between us and placing a kiss on my lips.
