<From AWACS. AWACS informs Bugblast that radar is online. Friendly aircraft have entered the area moving toward the bullseye from 225 degrees, 200 miles out, at 100,000 feet, at a very high speed. 100,000 feet is confirmed since that is too high for normal aircraft. Bugblast is told there has been a change in the original plan and is directed to separate from the enemy, making a maximum performance change in course of 180 degrees. They are to increase to maximum speed possible and climb to 50,000 feet which is near their maximum attainable altitude and proceed to a pre-briefed location.>
CHAMP, Bugblast One: “Roger that. Xray gamma. This should be interesting.”
<Champ acknowledges the directive. The other pilots also indicate their understanding. This is an unusual situation.>
PAINT, Bugblase Four: “Paint is defensive, fly one and fly two on my six. Taking fire. Hit, stabilizer trouble. Leaning right, defensive spiral.”
<Paint is under attack with two flies on his tail. His plane has been hit and he is experiencing maneuvering problems. He is taking defensive action and heading to his right in a spiraling decent to gain speed and lateral distance from his attackers.>
WACKER <AWACS command>: “All flies following on main group. Paint, you are cleared defensive.”
<From AWACS. AWACS confirms the enemy fighters are following the main group. It is likely the call to climb to 50,000 feet was made to draw the enemy aircraft to a higher altitude. All enemy fighters are still climbing. AWACS has endorsed Paint’s decision to go defensive which is an unusual affirmation in that situation.>
KNUCKLES, Bugblast Five: “Shooting stars, markings. 8 o’clock, east, very high.”
<Knuckles has spotted bright lights like shooting stars which are leaving contrails at the 8 o’clock position to the east. They are very high.>
PLASTER, Bugblast Two: “Splash go the flies.”
<Plaster sees the enemy aircraft destroyed.>
WACKER <AWACS command>: “Splash. Grand slam on flies. Thanks for X-37C assist with the HELLADS based laser weapon. Bugblast PLTZ up. PLTZ up. And 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Nudet at nest.”
<From AWACS. AWACS confirms all enemy fighters have been destroyed by laser weapons system from X-37C space planes. Bugblast is directed to activate special eye shielding for imminent nuclear blast. Nuclear blast confirmed at nest site.>
CHAMP, Bugblast One: “What luck, Wacker?”
<Champ asks if nest mission was a success.>
WACKER <AWACS command>: “Reviewing. Hold. Confirm, nest destroyed. Miller time!”
<AWACS confirms destruction of nest. Mission is complete.>
About the Author
Let your imagination run wild! Hammer found that was easy to do as a child. But life has a way of dragging you back to reality. Responsibilities. Obligations. It’s all good! Still, in keeping with the context, thank goodness for Science Fiction and Fantasy. What a wonderful way to keep a few of those creative embers alive.
Then came grandchildren to reignite the embers of imagination. There were new and exciting worlds to explore. It was a perfect nursery to nurture the author clamoring to be set free. Let your imagination run wild!
Mix in a love for science in general and it was inevitable that a book series blending Sci Fi with a twist of Fantasy would be born.
Hammer lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, not far from his children and grandchildren. He was born and raised in the Midwest. It was there that he received his degree in psychology. But the call of the mountains and the sea captured him. A love of spiritual things and family are Hammer’s prime motivators in life. When he’s not writing, or even when he is writing, Hammer enjoys the outdoors. Often as not, that can happen right here on Earth.
