I wanted to do that over dinner, but I didn't have time. - says Brooke in a nervous, weak voice because of his dizziness.

- Hold still! - I mean, whispering to calm her down. - There'll be plenty of time to tell me anything. We'll be at the hospital soon.

- No! It has to be now, because I don't want you to know it from someone else. - she says.

I look at Brooke with a stunned look. She was scaring me with those words.

- Ryder, I'm pregnant! - shoot Brooke. - I found out this week during a routine exam, but with everything happening too fast, I didn't have time to tell. I wish I'd said before...

I open my eyes and for a few seconds I remain silent, then I grab Brooke and kiss her with passion. She returns the kiss.

- I'm gonna be a father! - I mean, kissing her belly.

- Go, go, go, go!

With tears in his eyes, Brooke hugs me crying copiously.

- Ryder?

- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

- When we get back, will you make those omelets for me?

I'll let out a laugh.

- As many omelets as you want!

She smiles.

- Ryder?

- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

- I love you! I love you!

- I love you too, sunshine!

Epilogue

Brooke

Two years later...

I stand in front of the jury, awaiting my client's sentence. It was two years ago that I got an internship in a very famous law firm. That was my second supervised case.

- Members of the jury... - The judge begins by addressing the jury. - How do you declare the defendant?

There is a pause of a few seconds until one of the members presents his sentence.

- For the crime of murder, the jury finds the defendant not guilty because it believes that she used self-defense when hitting the victim. - the boy explains.

There's a commotion and several protests are heard. The judge asks for order and everyone is silent. She confirms the sentence, declaring Jennifer innocent and she hugs me with joy. That was my second victory in court.

Jennifer was a young woman who was sexually assaulted in an attempted rape. His attacker died after a blow to the head by Jeniffer. I knew that she would be acquitted of the crime of murder, since there was a lot of evidence attesting to self-defense. The criminal was his boss, an advisor to a very influential politician who did not frighten me.

- Great job, Cavanough!

I smile shaking hands with my colleague who helped me during the trial.

- Thank you, Lauren, but the credit is yours too.

- Always humble! - Lauren responds as she grabs the release papers and headed for the room where she would give the final instructions. - See you on Monday?

I smile and settle down for Lauren and head towards the courthouse exit. I was dying to get home and tell Ryder about the sentence. He didn't want to pursue a career in law because he didn't want to. Instead, he started working part-time at the export company, assuming the position of CEO. We got married a few months after the incident in which Leila had tried to kill me after kidnapping me. Ryder was so excited about the news that he was going to be a father, that he fainted with the confirmation given by Ryan. A few months later, he almost freaked out when he found out he was going to have a girl and fainted again. I couldn't wait to tell Ryder I was pregnant again.

I'm coming down the courthouse stairs and I can see Ryder's bike parked on the sidewalk. He wouldn't trade it for anything, even though he wore a suit all day, which didn't go with a bike like that. Life was very quiet now that Elizabeth was born. She had the smile and the eyes of her father, but she had inherited from me the light and curly hair. On the day of his birth, Ryder stopped an entire wing of the hospital so that no reporter would come forward. The news that Charles Cavanaugh's son would be a father spread so far that I had to be escorted by security guards. For months I suffered from the harassment of the paparazzi and Ryder did not want the day of his daughter's birth to become a circus.

Leila was arrested and sentenced for my kidnapping, to thirty years in prison in a closed regime. With no family, she lives alone in prison.

Aron was convicted at the same time as Leila's arrest, for attempted rape and awaited the trial on money laundering. He had his arrest revoked, but Charles moved some chopsticks and managed to reverse it, including bodily injury in the chart. Thus, Aron, who had already been convicted other times for injury, could not escape.

- Hello! - I say when I get close. - That bike doesn't go very well with my clothes.

Ryder lets out a laugh, throwing his helmet at me.

- I came to get you to celebrate. - he said, before he gave me his hand so I could get on the bike. - I was following the hearing and I heard the result. How about an Italian?

Ryder asks with a smile before he starts. I smile at him holding his arm and stopping him from starting. I kiss him, causing him to lose his breath.

Altered voices came from across the street, near the block ahead, taking our attention. Casey, dressed in a guard's uniform, was
