“Mom, please stay!” Bre yelled. I stopped once again. I heard shuffling behind me then felt a hand on my back when I turned around it was Bre with a soft look on her face.
“You shouldn’t be up,” I said I could tell she was in a little pain.
“I’m fine, I’m supposed to move around a little.” She half-smiled.
“I’m sorry, baby. I’m sorry. I was wrong.” I cried and leaned my head on her shoulder.
“I’m sorry too, mommy. I was wrong too, and I hope that you could forgive me.”
“No, I hope you can forgive me. I’m sorry for how I treated you. You made one mistake, and I took it too far. I should have never put you out and forced you in the real world like that. I should’ve talked to you, listened to you, and made it work.”
“There’s a lot of things that we could’ve done differently. But none of that matters anymore, all we can do now is move forward. That’s if you want to…”
“Of course, I want to. I missed you, and I don’t want to miss any moments with my new grandbaby. I just want everything to go back to normal...for all of us.” I said as I looked at my other kids standing around watching us.
“We want that too, mommy,” Raquel said as she walked over and hugged me on my side.
“Yeah, mama, we all want that,” Wayne said as he and Eric walked over.
“Me too!” Alexis said as she wrapped her little arms around me. Lord, thank you for giving me a chance to make things right with my kids. Thank you for allowing them to be so forgiving, especially Bre. My Bre. I pray that we fix things and get our relationship back to how it was. I really hope we do.
30. Bre
It felt so weird, but yet so good to have my family surrounding me. I felt the love, I felt the support and forgiveness. My mother and I had a long way to go, but as long as she was willing to try, I was willing to try as well. My dad eventually made it back after moving my things out of Jemar’s apartment and came to check on the baby and me. Chianne said she would come through after my family left because she wanted me to spend so much needed time with them. My mom was currently hogging Janelle in her arms as my siblings and dad surrounded her on the couch, just overlooking and admiring the new baby.
Knock-knock
“Come in!” I said, hoping that Chianne came through early. I was missing her, and she was a part of this family too since we grew up together. However, it wasn't my bestie, but it was Roon and Mikayla coming back to visit. I can’t lie and say I didn’t miss this chemistry between Mikayla, Wayne, Roon, and Quel. I don’t know what kind of brother/sister exchange was going on, but it was kind of cute and weird.
“Hey, Bre. They told us that you already had a room filled, but I wanted to drop off these gifts and balloons.” Mikayla said as she walked in and over to the baby. She placed the pink gift bag on the floor while Roon brought the balloons to the little table by my bed.
“That’s so sweet of you, but I’m over here, sis.” I laughed. I guess I gotta get used to that now that Janelle has stolen the show.
“My bad. I’ve just had baby fever ever since laying eyes on her.” She said. My mother took the hint but gave Kay the look that said, “Wash your hands before you touch my baby.” Kay took the sign and quickly walked over to wash her hands. My mother got up to meet her halfway then handed the baby off to her.
“Let’s go get some food, Kingsley. Want to come, Alexis?”
“Oooh, can we get some cookies?” Alexis said as she jumped up from the couch.
“Only a couple. We’ll be back, y’all.” Mama said as she, my dad, and Alexis left out.
“Can I babysit?” Mikayla asked. I could tell that she was really feeling the whole new baby.
“Umm, you can come to visit whenever you want,” I said. I liked Mikayla, but I didn’t know much about her. When she was around when we were little, we never really hung out, and she just randomly came back around. I didn’t mind her coming to visit, but I wasn’t leaving my baby around her.
“Oh, yes, definitely, that’s what I meant.” She smiled. Then she went back to looking at Janelle. Seconds later, I heard her crying. What the fuck? I thought.
“I’m sorry. Moments like this always get me so emotional. I hope to experience motherhood one day.” She sniffled. Roon and Wayne walked over to her, but she turned into Wayne. Roon didn’t seem bothered, but it did seem a little awkward. Lawrd, these fools need their own story, so I soak up somebody else’s drama besides my own.
“Awww Kay, one day, sis. You have plenty of time, and you need someone to put a big rock on your finger first. Or at least fall in love.” Quel said as she walked over to her and rubbed her back. Mikayla handed Janelle off to Quel.
“I already did.” She mumbled, but we heard her. And I think I know who she was talking about. And he did too because he put his arm around her.
“Aunty!!” Asia and Ariana said they burst into my room, running towards my bed. Whew, chile! This is probably not about to be pretty. And I was right, because Aniyah came right in after them and looked at me with a smile, but that smile turned into a mug once she saw Wayne all close to Kay.
“Oh, did we interrupt something?” Aniyah said, mugging hard on Kay. I mean, she just walk in and didn’t even know what was going
