onslaught of emotions he was going through, swept the garage till his eyes landed on me. Then he opened his mouth and the rage filled yell that came from between his lips caused the building to shake and several car windows to blow out. I put my hand over my ears as the sound of his yell and the car alarms flooded my senses.

“Hey!” Another abnormally loud voice came from the mouth of the garage. Standing there was a very muscular, fierce looking man. He wore a tank top and army fatigue cargo pants. On his feet was a pair of black Timberland boots. It seemed as if he was all one color. His long dark brown locs that fell to his waist was the same color as his skin. Strangely, he put me in the mind of a lion. His long locs kind of crowned his head like a mane.

“You going to stand there and cry like a b*tch all night, or are we going to do this?” He called out to Gabe with a grin on his face.

If there was such a thing as pleasurable rage, then that was the look that washed over my husband’s face before he gently with loving care, laid Mac’s body down. For a moment he looked at him as if he was saying goodbye, before that rage filled look came back on his face. He stood and turned to face the stranger.

“Yeah, let’s do this!” He growled as he and the man began to walk toward each other. I had a bad feeling about this. It was something different about the lion man. I thought about Altar’s last words before Gabe had ripped out his heart.

“You can kill this body, but I will only find one stronger, and I will be back for you. I will never let her go!”

My gaze went back up to the knife that pinned Mac’s heart to the cement beam. It would have taken one with amazing strength to do that.

“Gabe, wait!” I yelled, but he was past the point of reason. He was being ruled by his rage and suddenly I had the feeling I was getting ready to lose him. I tried to run after him, but Gabe’s man prevented it.

“Move!” I yelled at him feeling like I was getting ready to suffocate. This could not be happening— not now!

“I’ve been waiting to get a hold of yo a$$!” The big man hissed as he rotated his beefy shoulder, continuing to march toward Gabriel who held out his arms.

“I’m right here homey, wait no longer.”

However, the man’s steps came to a complete halt as his gaze flew to the stairwell door that was now being blocked off completely by security. The door opened and the man that had been introduced to me earlier as Solomon was saying something to the guard who stepped aside and let him pass.

“Well now, it looks as if we’re going to have to settle this a little later.” His words caused me to feel major deju vu.  Without saying another word, he turned and fled. The only other person I had ever seen move that fast was my husband.

Gabe went to take off after him.

“Gabriel!” Solomon’s powerful voice filled the garage bringing him to a stop.

“You have to walk away from this. You don’t have the training to fight him. You will lose if you go up against him now. Come with me brother… I will show you how to defeat him!” He grabbed Gabe’s arm.

“Man! Let me go!” Gabe growled snatching away from him. He pointed toward Mac’s body.

“That’s my brother laying there dead!” Then he nudged Solomon in the chest with both his hands. Had a man with normal strength done that to a guy Solomon’s size, nothing would have happened. But because it was Gabriel who did it, Solomon flew into the parked car behind him.

I winced. That looked like it hurt.

“You ain’t my brother!” He hissed before he turned to go after the man. Bravely, Solomon grabbed his arm again stopping him.

“You have reached the crossroads and must decide which way to go.” He pointed after the man.

“That way leads to death. If you come with me now, I will show you the way to life.”

Gabe stared at him for a moment and I could tell he was battling within himself.  Slowly, he turned his head and his gaze fell on me. I put my hands together and silently begged him to listen to Solomon. Everything in my being felt that his words were true. It looked as if just for a moment, he was going to at least consider.  But then his gaze landed on Mac’s body, and I saw when his resolve hardened. He shook his head.

“I can’t just walk away from this!” He whispered before he took off after Mac’s murderer.

Chapter 21

The Road That Leads to Death

Yasmin

Solomon cursed before he pulled out his phone.

“Hey, big bruh, I think I may need your help with this one!” He said before he hung up the phone and took off after Gabriel.

I tried to break away from the man that held me so that I could follow.

“Gabe! Wait!” I yelled feeling my heart breaking. Sirens filled the garage as the police showed up, and the next few hours became the most painful of my life. After talking to the police for two hours straight, we all ended up at the hospital. There was no consoling Kenny and Stacy. Gabrielle and I tried the best we could, but they were in pain.

Mac was dead!

He died trying to protect me. He had gone to the garage because the hotel security had told him they saw a suspicious man hovering around the limo Gabe and I had arrived in. He had gone to look into the matter by himself and had lost his life for it.

Stacy didn’t want to talk to me, and neither did Kenny. I can’t say that I blamed them.
