I felt great! The music was so loud and it pumped through my veins. The flashing lights made me feel as if I was flying or floating, maybe even soaring or just dancing on clouds. I held my hands up in the air, winding my body to the beat. A strong arm circled my waist, gently pulling me back against a well muscled chest. I didn’t have to turn around to know who it was. The smell of citrus spice and power encircled me.
I winded my hips in front of him, rubbing my bottom against him in a seductive way.
“How do you know who’s holding you?” He asked in my ear. Laughing, I turned in his arms, wrapping mine around his shoulders. As I stood on my toes to speak in his ear, I rubbed my body against his.
“Because, I would recognize the smell of my man anywhere!” He groaned as he pulled me closer.
“So, I’m your man?” I felt so carefree, no worries at all. Looking up into his dangerously handsome face, I bit my bottom lip.
“Do you want to be my man?” He grinned nodding his head.
“Very much.”
“Will you promise to keep me safe?” His intense gaze drew me in, and it seemed as if everyone else on the dance floor just faded to black.
“Always, just tell me who it is I need to keep you safe from, and I will baby!” I believed him. He was so strong and tough.
“Mayor Davenport, I killed him, but I don’t think he stayed dead!”
“Why did you kill him?”
“He killed my pa-pa and then he tried to hurt me. So, I bashed him in the head with my granny’s lamp, he died on the rug. I left him there and I ran as far away as I could!”
“That’s how you ended up here?” I nodded my head, but right then a huge machine began to spit out foamy bubbles from the ceiling. I laughed closing my eyes as they rained down around us.
“This is the best night of my life!” I yelled at the top of my lungs.
I don’t know how long we stayed after that. I remembered Gabe carrying me out in his arms, and me singing Boys II Men, End of the Road.
Mac suggested we all go get breakfast. Believe it or not, our wedding party had grown. So, we literally filled up the restaurant. It was amazing how Gabriel attracted people. They just wanted to be a part of him.
“I don’t care what you do; just make sure you take good care of this table!” Mac told the manager before handing him several bills.
“Yes sir, I’ll take care of this table myself.” He handed us all menus. I looked at the menu but it all looked like one big blur.
“What can I get for you guys?” He asked. Mac and Gabe let me and Mac’s lady friend order first.
“I’ll have a garden salad!” She told him handing him her menu. I snorted.
“Not me, I’ll have pancakes and French toast. Umm…” I tried looking at the menu again with no luck. “Sausages!” I slurred.
“Turkey sausages, no pork! And umm, eggs with cheese and fish and chips!”
“Fish and chips?” He asked. I nodded, holding up my finger.
“Yeah, fish and chips!” Gabe looked at me with a grin on his face.
“You think you ordered enough?”
“Why? Should I order more? Are the portions real small?” He looked across the table at Mac and laughed a bit.
“I don’t know, but order more food if you like.” I shook my head.
“Nah, my pa-pa say waste not want not! I don’t want to be greedy!”
When our food came I looked down at the many plates in front of me. Then I looked over at Gabe’s steak.
“Dang that looks good!” I told him. Mac who had been drinking juice spat a little out as he choked. I turned and hit him several times in the back before looking back at Gabe’s steak.
“Can I taste it?”
“You haven’t even tasted yours!” I looked back at my food.
“I know. It’s just that yours looks and smells better.” He sat back in his seat.
“Yeah, go ahead.” I smiled at him.
“Thank you, boyfriend!” I said pulling his plate in front of me.
“Husband!” He corrected, as he watched me cut into his steak. I put a bite of it between my lips and it just exploded with flavor in my mouth.
“Emmm! This is good!” I cut another piece. Mac chuckled shaking his head as he cut into his steak. Gabe looked up at the manager who still stood there making sure we were alright.
“Can I get another steak please?”
“Yes sir, I’ll have it right out to you!” Gabe looked back down at me.
“You know what? You wild as hell when you drunk!”
Chapter 10
The Honeymoon
Yasmin
I was going to be sick!
My eyes flew open. And although my body protested leaving the nice comfortable warm spot it was tucked in, I threw back the covers and shot out the bed. For a minute I was lost, looking around the strange bedroom. My panicked gaze shot around the room trying to adjust to the darkness before I spotted a door that had to be the bathroom.
I barely got my head over the toilet before I lost the contents in my belly.
Oh! My! Goodness! I felt like I was dying. The light came on overhead and someone pulled my hair out the way so that I wouldn’t get vomit in it.
“I’m dying!” I cried when I finally stopped retching.
A masculine chuckle came from over my head before Gabe’s strong hand appeared in my view to flush the toilet. I hugged the bowl pressing my face up against its cool surface. Not caring in the least that it
