tell me what makes you react like that. You can trust me.”

He spins me around and brushes his hand down my cheek. “It’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s a long story. One I hate getting into. Short story, I had a problem.”

“With drinking?”

“Yes, but it was so much more than that.” He pauses, confliction running through his eyes. “And if I’m honest I like that you know nothing about old me. That guy.”

“So, you think after you tell me, it will change how you feel about me?”

“No. You’re going to feel different about me. I’ve worked so hard to be where I am now, and I don’t want to taint the image you have of me.”

“I doubt I could feel different about you.”

“You will. Everyone else did.” He bows his head and I frown.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe this man, who appears to be a pillar of strength and authority on the outside, has such a vulnerability and shame inside of him.

“I’m not everyone else.” I smile and brush my fingers through this thickening beard.

“No, you’re not.” He twists my hair around his finger and lingers in closer to me. “You’re special, Red.”

“I’m not all that, but like you promised me you were all in, I am too with you. I’m not going anywhere. No matter what.”

His hands snake around my back, and he grabs my ass, lifting me into his arms. He pushes me onto the counter as his lips trace across my chin. The smell of coffee wafts through the air. “Do you have any idea how much you turn me on?” he groans, pushing his erection into me.

I tangle my fingers in his hair, about to press my lips to his, in a desperate need to taste him, when the front door slams.

“Hello—oh—whoo,” Terry hoots.

Liam drops me to my feet and his head falls to my forehead. “Are you kidding me?”

“Oh, did I interrupt something? Oops,” Terry says cheekily as she lays her purse on the counter.

“Hi Terry.” Liam waves and turns back to me. “Your best friend is as bad as our son when it comes to bad timing. Though, I’m not sure who is worse.” He smirks and kisses my nose.

“It’s what I do best. Too bad I can’t make a career out of it.”

The first time Liam and Terry met was one of the first days Liam spent the night and he had been using the bathroom to get cleaned up and changed. Terry with her lack of concern walked in on him in his boxers. It was an interesting meeting indeed. It’s what I get for giving the girl a key to my place.

“I’m going to get changed.” Liam gives me another peck on the cheek and leaves. Terry greedily eyes him as he exits. Can’t blame her. Liam’s ass is something to watch.

"What are you doing here this early?”

“We were supposed to go shopping this morning. You wanted to get a few more things for the condo…then I was going to drag you clothes shopping to help allure a hottie. Harsh that you forgot about me already."

“My clothes are fine.”

“They are, but they could be a little shorter and tighter.” She nudges me.

“Stop.” I nudge her back.

“Maybe some sexy nightwear for the next time he spends the night. Something lacy and small that he’ll have an easier time getting you out of because these drab things don’t cut it.” She runs her finger up and down my sweatpants.

"Will you cut it out?” I hush her.

Though Liam had no issues getting into my pants last night.

“You’re so cute when you get all flustered.” Terry grabs my cheeks and I whack her away.

“She is, isn’t she?” Liam agrees smugly as he walks back into the room.

If I blush any harder, I might become a traffic light.

Liam has changed into a pair of dark blue jeans and a black shirt that is clinging to him, showing off his sculpted chest. His hair is still a tousled mess. He heads back into the kitchen and pours himself a cup of coffee. His eyes flick to mine with a wicked grin playing on his lips as he rubs his thumb over them, I’m sure thinking the same I am; I should be laid out on that counter right now, with his lips all over me.

Terry waves her hand in front of my face. “Hello.”

“What?” I turn away from my Liam gawking and look at her. She’s biting the inside of her cheek, trying not to laugh at me.

“I don’t mean to interrupt your little foreplay action again, but you are supposed to be asking Liam to watch Matty, so we can go shopping, and the little man can spend more time with his daddy.”

“Daddy!” Matty chirps and comes charging from behind the couch where he was playing.

“Awww. He’s saying the big D word.” She pauses. “Wait. That isn’t right. So, he’s finally saying Daddy?” Terry coos.

“He is,” Liam says proudly. “And yeah, I can watch him. I’ll take him back to my place while I get some work done.”

“Are you sure? I can always take Matty with me.”

“No. Matty can color and play. I can even teach him hack codes.” He smirks. “One is never too young to learn all the tricks. Then you can meet us later.”

“Alright. If you’re sure.”

“Of course. Have fun.” Liam presses his lips to mine, softly. I can tell he wants to deepen it, but with Terry watching, he holds back. “You can sleep on my couch tonight,” he whispers, but his words have a delicious threat to them.

“Matty, does Aunty T get a hug?” Terry goes after Matty with tickle fingers, and he screeches making a run for his bedroom. This has become some game between
