on her face slowly disappeared and was replaced by a look of resolve, which impressed me.

“Okay.  I'll do my best, but I can't guarantee that I'm going to be any good at it.  I'm not the sportiest person after all.”

She threw me a little smile, which made me feel soft inside.  She was cute.  Undeniably fucking cute.  I focused on something else before she noticed my thoughts.  I was relieved Zaphire wasn't here as she would definitely have picked up on my lapse.  She would've given me a hell of a lot of grief for telling her off for showing signs and now doing it myself!  For fuck sake; be professional Zack, I scolded myself.

“You'll be fine.  Anything is possible with enough practice and training."  I said gruffly, to hide my earlier indiscretion, whether she'd seen it or not.

“Get changed then we can make a start today.  Mornings will be for exercise and afternoons for working with your senses.”

She looked at me awkwardly.

“What's up?”

“Uh, I didn't pack any sports gear."  she said, obviously embarrassed.

I let out a sigh, but said she could probably borrow something from Zaphire.  I texted her to bring a selection down.  I knew Zaphire's clothes collection was vast, so it wouldn't be a problem.  As I predicted, Zaphire came down with an armful of clothes.

“There should be something in here for you, hun.  Just try and see what you are most comfortable in.  Fancy not packing any!”

She giggled to which Eliza's cheeks went very pink, bless her.  She scuttled to the bathroom, holding her breath I noticed.  She was struggling with both of us in her vicinity.  The exercises I'd planned for this morning will keep her mind off things.  Sometimes sport is the best remedy.  I sent Zaphire out the room to give Eliza a chance to control her impulses whilst she got changed.

“Agh, you get all the fun these days,"  she grumbled on her way out.

“Don't worry, you'll have yours soon enough!"  I shouted after her.

I had some good self-defence lessons in mind later on in the week, where Zaphire would be extremely useful.  She was amazingly quick and flexible and had learned to use that to her advantage with great effect.  I would have to see where Eliza's strength lies but as she was so slight of build, it would probably be those two.  Zaphire was a great all rounder and so was incredibly strong too.  She was quite a sight to behold when she was in full fighting mode.  It would give Eliza confidence to see a woman so able and not scared to fight.

“I'm done! Ready to kick some ass!"  Eliza laughed mockingly at herself.

She had put her hair up in some sort of pony tail, with wispy dark hairs peaking out everywhere as her hair was just that little bit too short.  Cute.  Sexy.  She didn't seem to care though.  She was ready to give it a go.

“We'll start off with some circuit training, then some boxing.”

I saw her flinch with the last suggestion, but I ignored it, not wanting to draw attention to it.  Better to let her experience it first, so she'll realise it's nothing to be scared of.

“We'll start off slowly, but I will have to push you, to find out what your basic fitness level is.  Then we can work from there to improve.”

CHAPTER 17

“Hey...I..thought you said we would.....start slowly!”

I could hardly talk without having to catch my breath.  Sweat poured off me and my clothes were soaked.  We hadn't even done the boxing yet.

“Yep, but I also said I'd have to push you.  I know what your limit is now and what we can work towards.  Go stretch and take some water.  Then I'll teach you some of the basics of boxing.  We won't do a full session.  I can see you are not strong enough yet.”

“I didn't think I was doing that badly."  I grumbled.

I felt a bit dejected.  I'd worked really hard I thought, considering I had never done any sports before.  I didn't know any of the moves Zack was talking about and he had to show me everything.  Burpees, lunges, planking WTF.  Pure torture is what it should be called!

“You have worked hard, but you've gone through a lot and your body is weak.  Put these gloves on.  I'll show you some simple moves.”

As he moved closer I was suddenly overwhelmed with his scent again, intensified by the sweat he'd worked up doing his own exercises.  I pushed him away and forced myself to focus on the sea and the rolling waves.  I was getting the hang of this and felt more in control almost immediately.  At least I was making good progress there.

“Sorry Zack, you were too close."  I apologised.

“Are you in control now?”

He actually looked concerned for the first time this training session.  He'd been uncompromising to say the least, barking instructions at me continuously.  However, he had stopped just when I felt it was getting too much for me.  Of course he knew what he was doing.  He could read me like an open book, picking up all my vital signs constantly.  I kept forgetting.

“Yeah sure, just don't come too near.”

That really wasn't what my body wanted, but my brain had won this battle.

Zack kept his word and just showed me a few simple techniques as to how to place my legs and body, and how to hold my fists together and in front of my face.  He showed me some punches, which I practised the move of, but without the power behind it, as instructed.  Then he signalled to do cool down and I was looking forward to a well deserved long hot bath.

“You can have a bath today, but don't get used to it.  The first couple of days I will allow you to take a two hour break, to let your body recover as we are supposed to take it easy.  After that, it will just be an hour
