sink my head below the cool water, as the sea gobbles me. As I sit on the squishy sand, my eyes burn from the saltwater. I wish I could live here forever. Devious grabs me by the arm, yanking me from the water.

“What the fuck are you doing?” He grabs me by the throat, squeezing my throat. My brittle nails scratching his hand, getting blood underneath them. “What kind of game are you trying to play with me?”

I shake my head and my teeth chatters from the chilly air. “I’m not. I get you’re suspicious. But I’m trying to be a good wife and get into good graces with you. ” I lie, partly. He stares into my eyes as he lets me go. Coughing, I fall back into the water, rubbing my neck.

“You have to earn it, Roselyn. I don’t believe you.”

“I know, but I promise I’m trying to be good for you.” My tone is soft and low.

He yanks me by the ponytail, then he presses his lips against mine. The kiss makes me lose all my common sense. Pulling away, his eyes look torn as if he doesn’t know if he believes me. “Just because I want you doesn’t mean I won’t kill you. You betray me again, I’ll slit your throat, faster than you can blink.”

Devious

FOUR DAYS GO BY, I change into my all black suit and boots. I stride to my secret weapon room, which is hidden behind my library, grab two handguns and a knife, and place them in my holster.

I have been planning to attack Cashel for the longest time. My IT guy was able to hack into Leon’s phone and get the location of Cashel. I’m going to make this bastard beg for his life. When I’m in the car, I call up Damien, tell him to gather up a few soldiers in case a big showdown goes down.

I can’t get Shelby’s dead face out of my mind. My mouth goes dry and sweat blankets my forehead. I can’t get the way she was riding his dick as her tits bounced up and down nor the way he kissed her neck makes my eyes burn with tears. I bang my fist on the side of the door then King glances at me through the rearview mirror.

“Is everything all right, sir?”

“Yeah.”

He nods and his eyes veer to the road.

I’m sorry, Devious. But I don’t love you anymore.

Her words ring in my ear. She told me a month before our wedding.

I stood on my knees like a dummy begging her to be with me. I was to blinded by love to see she didn’t want me. To see I was suffocating her, squeezing the life out of her. I’m not raging a war on the Irish because Cashel had an affair with Shelby, it was the icing on the cake, he stole a few businesses from right under my nose.

King parks the car across the street from Cashel’s house. The SUV pulls up next to me and Max and a few other soldiers get out of the vehicle, I follow suit as I take out my gun and place a silencer on the tip.

“Stand in front of me.” Slowly, we walk up the run-down porch, with cracks in the center. The oak wood house is wilting, and the bottom of the house appears to be eaten by termites.

“I need everyone to be alert and when I say attack, you attack. Leave no one alive unless it’s a child,” I order.

Damien walks in front of me, and two other soldiers stand behind me. Once we make it to the front door, Damien kicks the door in, Liam, Cashel’s younger brother aims his gun at us along with his soldiers. Disappointment yields in my chest. Gunshots fire and Liam jumps out the way, hiding behind a bedroom door. His soldiers’ bodies hit the floor one by one. The place is painted in blood like a scene straight out of a horror film.

“Come out with your hands up, Liam. Your soldiers are dead,” I demand, aiming a gun at his head.

He tosses his gun to the carpet, making a thud noise, then he places his hand on the back of his head, falling to his knees.

“Where is Cashel?” I scowl.

“How the fuck should I know? He made me a soldier.” His tone is deep. He’s the spitting image of Cashel. Same green eyes. Same pointy nose. Same pale skin.

I cock the gun, nudging the barrel at the back of his head. He flinches, biting his bottom lip.

“Look, man. He ordered me to live here.”

He knew I was coming so he used his brother as a sacrifice. Cashel doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but himself.

“You remember when I used to try to tag along, I don’t want to be caught up between you guys bullshit. I ju—”

I pull the trigger. Blood sprays on my suit and his limp body falls to the white carpet.

“Watch the front door, kill anyone who walks in the house,” I tell Damien and he does what I say. I need to search the property for any paperwork with Cashel’s location. I should have known he wouldn’t be here.

I peer in every room making sure there isn’t anyone in sight. I check the computer room and wiggle the mouse and the screen comes to life. There is a password and I tell one of my soldiers to put the computer into the car so I can have my IT guy to hack it. I empty out the drawers, but the only thing I can find is old receipts from stores. Closing the drawer, I hear sounds coming from the bathroom. As I take out my gun from the holster, I turn the knob on the metal door, and I feel a sharp knife jab in my side as a naked woman screams at the top of her lungs. She tries to run past me, but I grab her by the
