and we had our own place. It makes me happy that I can see Sophie in every room. I glanced around last night when we had everyone over, and I love the touches she made to the place. It feels like a home, and I haven’t had a home in a really long time.

Sophie looks so peaceful. I have never met anyone more beautiful in my life. I feel so lucky that she was willing to give us a shot. I would have waited for her, but she didn’t want to wait either and I’m glad.

Sophie wanted to go out today since she has been cooped up for such a long time. I know I would have gone stir crazy if I were her, but she never complained. The fact that her mom already knows she’s here means that Vince does too. She doesn’t need to hide that she’s here anymore, but she does need to have someone with her at all times.

I hate that it can’t be me, but I need to head into work. I also know that whichever club brother is on her will keep her safe.

I reluctantly get up and put some boxers and sweats on. I head out to make coffee when my phone goes off with a text.

Prez: Got Shield watching over your woman today. He guarded our princess with his life. He will do the same for her.

The tension I was carrying around eases with that text.

I know for a fact that Shield will keep her safe. He got his name when he earned his patch. I know he’s a loyal brother and protects the women with his life.

I don’t bother cooking breakfast because I wouldn’t want to subject Sophie to that kind of horror. I’m not the greatest in the kitchen and she would probably laugh at my attempt or eat it and say it’s good while she’s trying not to gag swallowing it down.

I sit at the table with my coffee. It’s not long before she comes in with the sweetest smile on her face.

She gives me a kiss, heads to the coffee machine to make herself a cup and starts making breakfast like it’s what we do every morning.

I can’t help but watch her as she moves around the kitchen.

She’s making the simple signature breakfast of bacon, eggs, and hash browns, but she has such a peaceful look on her face. You can tell that she loves being in the kitchen, and I think that she’s meant to do something with those skills. I decide to talk to her about it later.

She brings me a plate with one for herself and sits beside me. We don’t say anything, but the silence isn’t awkward or uncomfortable. You would think that we have been living together for years by the way we are acting.

I tell her that Shield is watching her today and she nods her head.

When Shield shows up, I leave after giving her a kiss that has me wanting to drag her back to our room and have my way with her, but I know that I don’t have time for that. I send Shield a chin lift before I leave, climb on my bike, and head out to work although I’d rather be at home with my woman.

Sophie

I invited Shield in for some breakfast. I don’t think that I have ever seen anyone move so fast in my life.

I can’t help but laugh as I make him a plate. I made sure to make extra. Since they all love my cooking, I knew that whoever was watching me today wouldn’t say “no” to a nice breakfast.

I get ready while he eats. I would think that he didn’t hear me, but I see him nod while he’s chewing. Colton told me that I could trust him, but I already knew that because of the story Ella told me about the night that Shield and Trigger earned their patches.

It takes me a little while to get ready because I honestly have to still look up styles on the internet. I hated the way I used to dress and love experimenting with new looks that I can wear.

I decide to choose skinny jeans and a simple halter top with a light sweater over top. I pull on some brown boots that I had bought with the gift cards Colton gave me.

I decide to leave my hair down and add a bit of mascara and lip gloss. I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup and this seems simple enough to wear going downtown.

I look at myself in the mirror and I can’t help but smile at what I see.

The clothes aren’t something my mother or Vince would let me wear. I don’t think I have owned any jeans since I was a kid, and my father was still alive.

The woman staring back at me looks happy. There’s a spark in my eyes and a smile on my face that I can’t seem to shake off. I look genuinely happy for the first time in a long time.

I don’t know how long I stare at myself, but I turn around and do what I assume most woman would do. I check out how my butt looks in these jeans.

I bend slightly and I’m looking over my shoulder admiring it. I place my hand on my hip for whatever reason when I freeze to the sound of chuckling.

I drop my head and let out a low groan. Could I do anything else more embarrassing?

I look up and stand up straight looking at the doorway. Just as I feared. Shield is standing there, and he’s got a huge grin on his face.

I feel my cheeks because I know that they are red with embarrassment.

I clear my throat and look away from him.
