Mama Haga noticed Mara’s troubled look on her face and the grave concern that she may be left alone to deal with the matter. Mama Haga quickly interjected to reassure her and said, “Hush now, child, of course, I believe in what you are saying and I will stand with you through it all, besides I believe in God myself (she lied, as she had no clue who God was and where He dwelt), I pray to Him every day for protection, long life and good health.”
Mama Haga continued in her quest to encourage Mara by saying, "In fact I am honoured that you trusted me over everyone else close to you. I have always felt there was a higher power than our ancestors somewhere, but I had my doubts till now.
“Now I am fully persuaded there is a God who saves and who sees what we are doing here on earth, because He has answered my prayers in more ways than one when I prayed. Well, at least I think it was Him answering my payers all along and not the dead ancestors.” She continued, “Tell me what to do and I will stand with you for the sake of our families and neighbours.” Mama Haga said this looking into nothingness as though in deep thought as she thought she had just told Mara a lie and she would have to live by her promise and face this big God head on when she prays.
She had never prayed all her life and had no clue what to say. Somehow, she thought fate had come home to roost as she had felt for a long time that she needed to believe in something or someone of a higher power, but she had dismissed this as a silly idea.
Mara sighed with relief that someone had believed her and suddenly the weight was lifted off her shoulders and now had a pact with Mama Haga. “You do realise the weight of this call on your life then, child? It’s no small matter for the playground with your friends. It is very serious and people’s lives depend on it!” Mama Haga said sternly.
Mara stared at her wearily and said, “I know, Mama Haga, that is why I came so we can start to pray together and stand in the gap for the others, and then hopefully when the time is right to tell them, they might believe and be saved as well, because evil is coming and I am scared for everybody.”
“Don’t be afraid, Mara, evil will not hurt us as long as we do what you have been asked to teach us, we will be saved. However, you are very right that evil is on its way, therefore, time is of the essence, my child. So now, where do we start from?” said Mama Haga decidedly.
“We need to put together a prayer plan to help us recite the prayer daily, according to what the Angel of the Lord told me to write down. Once we learn it, then we can add some more lines from our heads and pray for everything and for everyone to be covered in the Blood of Jesus, that way we are protected. The Angel of God said it was paramount that we involve the Blood of Jesus in all our prayers as the key element.”
Mama Haga looked puzzled and said, “How can that be? Where are we going to get the Blood of Jesus without killing him first? Moreover, a second problem would be where to find him. Have you thought about that before you accepted this huge assignment?”
Mama Haga continued, ranting, “Which village does he come from? Have you ever heard of him or seen him? Do you really want this man’s Blood on your hands, because I am not prepared to kill anyone, all I am in for is to pray, but murder is just unheard of! What kind of God is going to ask a child to kill!” Mama Haga hissed in disbelief and utter horror while trying to keep her voice down for the men outside not to hear.
“No, Mama Haga,” responded Mara, “It’s not like that, the voice of the Angel of God told me that this Jesus who is the son of God was already killed and rose again after three days and his blood which he shed on the Cross at Calvary hundreds of years ago is what we need to speak about and apply it in every circumstance, not physically but in the spirit and it will speak for us.”
Mara continued while Mama Haga listened in bewilderment, “Because he is alive and he died for our sins as atonement. You could call him the sacrificial lamb that was slain for our salvation. Without him, we could have died in sin and never meet him in heaven, and in my case, I would have no prospects of ever seeing my parents again.”
“So you see we have another chance to make things right with God, so that when the enemy comes in like a flood, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will be able to raise up a standard against the enemy and consume them for our sake.”
“Do you understand, Mama Haga?” She nodded in bewilderment and said to Mara, “I am confounded, so how is this Jesus being dead and we use his blood to pray and now you are telling me he is not dead? The mind boggles, my child. You are talking like you have just landed from heaven yourself, how do you know such deep things of heaven when you are only but a child and have never died and rose again to see what heaven looks like?”
Mara just looked at her without saying a word. Mama Haga mumbled something in her vernacular language under her breath, as if to say she didn’t know what she was getting herself into. She sighed
