“Unbelievable,” I hear Eva breathe from the desk behind me.
I close my eyes and my nostrils flare. I can’t believe this shit is happening after the amazing sex I just had with Eva only moments ago. I open my eyes and address Beth first.
“Why are you still here?”
“I… I… I, you’re really firing me?” Beth asks with a look of complete confusion on her face.
“I’ve never minced words around here, Beth. So, I’m having a hard time figuring out why you’re suddenly having such a hard time comprehending.”
Beth nods as tears fill her eyes. She looks at Magdalena as if she can offer some help or comfort. Magdalena looks at her in disgust and rolls her eyes. “You’re no good to me now,” Mags scoffs.
I tighten my jaw as I think of how long Beth has been helping my bitch of an ex-wife. It’s taking everything in me not to explode right here on the spot. I pull my cell from my pocket.
“I need security up here in my office. Beth Rogers is not to leave this building until Diggs gets here and talks to her,” I speak into the phone as I watch both Beth and Mags’ reaction. They both pale and look nervous.
Diggs works for an outside security firm I hire, and yes, he’s a Lost Soul. Both Beth and Magdalena have run across him before. He’s one scary sight. Gruff, huge, and tattooed, Diggs is just intimidating. He has a young face that matches his age, but the front of his hair is gray and adds something sinister to his aura.
There’s a squad within the Lost Souls who you just know not to fuck with. Diggs happens to be a part of that squad. Magdalena knows this to be a fact. Beth, I can tell, has assumed as much from the vibes that come off of Diggs when he has come by my office.
I shoot a text to him, so I can find out what has been going on behind my back. Magdalena looks like she’s contemplating running. She just can’t manage to pull her attention from the woman behind me long enough to try.
I know exactly where Eva is. My body is attuned to hers. I feel as she walks up behind me. I reach behind my back for her waist and pull her against me. She won’t be bolting around me for the door.
I smirk to myself when I hear her gasp for air as I pull her close. Her breasts crush against me and I swear my cock twitches for her. I don’t know if I will ever get enough of her.
I look over my shoulder. “I can explain it all. You’re not leaving this building without me,” I murmur to her.
She just looks up at me with her big brown eyes. I can see the sadness in them, and it tightens my chest. I shift to kiss her forehead but keep her pinned to my back.
“Learn to trust me,” I whisper.
She nods, but I see the mistrust written on her gorgeous face. I bite my lip in hopes to reel in my anger. Unfortunately, Mags has never learned when to shut the fuck up.
“Where’d you find this one? What makes her so special?” she says as if disgusted.
I snap my head back toward Mags, but to my surprise, I’m not the one who gets to respond. I’m stunned as Eva shoves me aside. She steps right into Magdalena’s face and points her finger.
“Let’s get one thing clear. I don’t give a fuck if you are his present or past wife. That’s between the two of you. What you’re not going to do is disrespect me, like I’m not in this room,” Eva fumes in Mags’ face. She moves in closer, still pointing.
“What I do know right now is that he belongs to me until you can prove otherwise. So far, you haven’t done shit that has. So, fuck with what’s mine and I’ll show you what’s so special about me,” Eva warns.
A smirk reaches my lips. I’m so turned on. Now that’s how you handle being my old lady. Hearing those words in my own head swells my chest with pride and want.
Not want for pussy, but a want I’ve never had before. Eva is fast becoming something I hadn’t even known I wanted. I lick my lips and close the space to wrap my arms around my woman’s waist. I pull her back into my chest and kiss the top of her head.
“What makes her so special is that she’s mine. Don’t test that, Mags. I mean that shit. Don’t come for my woman,” I confirm. “I’ve told you. I’m not helping you. We’re done.”
I watch as fire and fear ignite in Magdalena’s eyes. For the first time, I don’t think I’m the sole source of this fear. She has really gotten herself into some deep shit. I shouldn’t care, but my instincts cause me to pause for a moment.
Then my commonsense kicks back in, this is Mags. She and Jemma live to stir shit up. I’m not getting dragged into her manipulation. Not this time.
Eva may have stood up for her place as my woman, but I can still feel she’s questioning everything in her pretty little head. Straightening that shit out is more important to me at the present time. I need her to know she’s the only one who matters. I don’t give a shit what Magdalena has to say at the moment, because with each second that passes, I can feel I’m losing my woman.
Eva is slipping right through my fingers, even as I hold her. I can’t have that. I tighten my hold on her waist. I’ve already made up my mind, the rest of this day is going to be run remotely.
I’m going home and taking Eva with me. We need to talk. I need to clear all of this up. Mags has the wrong man if
